2 drown, 1 survives Topaz Lake boat accident at NV-CA line
MINDEN, Nev. (AP) — A search rescue team has recovered the bodies of two Sparks men from Topaz Lake near the California-Nevada line after they apparently drowned over the weekend in a boating accident.
A third man was treated and released at Carson Valley Medical Center after the boat capsized on Saturday in the lake in southern Douglas County.
The victims were identified as 45-year-old Bert Pederson and 50-year-old Jesse Gregory, both of Sparks. Scott Wise survived.

MUKONO, Uganda (AP) — Ugandan divers retrieved 31 bodies and expected to find more in a capsized vessel in Lake Victoria, making it one of the country's worst maritime disasters and prompting the president to call for more stringent safety regulations.
The vessel was believed to be overcrowded with nearly 100 passengers, said Zurah Ganyana, a senior police officer at the scene. At least 27 people were rescued overnight, lower than earlier reports, she said.
Uganda: At least 10 die in boat accident on Lake Victoria
KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) — A Ugandan police official says at least 10 people have died in a boat accident on Lake Victoria.
Police spokesman Emilian Kayima said late Saturday that police marine units had pulled 40 survivors from the water.
He said search and rescue efforts will continue overnight for others believed to be trapped under the water in the completely submerged boat. He gave no details on the cause of the accident.

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) — Portage County sheriff's officials say the two victims of a boating accident on the Wisconsin River are from Stevens Point.
The body of 60-year-old James Glodowksi was recovered shortly after the boat accident near the Lake DuBay dam Saturday. Fifty-six-year-old Timothy Coulthurst is missing and presumed drowned.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) — A St. Joseph man faces two felony charges after a fatal boating accident during the Memorial Day weekend.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports 41-year-old Cletus Barsch was charged Thursday with boating while intoxicated, resulting in death. He also was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
3 Alaska villagers die in Kuskokwim River boating accident
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Three residents of an Alaska village died in a riverboat accident.
Alaska State Troopers say the bodies of three residents of Tuntutuliak (toon-too-TOO-lee-ak) were pulled Sunday pulled from the Kuskokwim (KUS-koh-kwim) River.
Tuntutuliak is 40 miles (65 kilometers) from the Bering Sea coast and 440 miles (708 kilometers) west of Anchorage.
Troopers identified the dead as 50-year-old Peter Joseph Jr., 43-year-old Jennifer Joseph and 44-year-old Nettie Evan.

Elizabeth Douglas, of Biddeford, Maine, was found Sunday by the Maine Marine Patrol.

Michigan State Police say the Alger County Dive Team located the body of Robert Louis of Lake Orion on Monday near the site of the accident near Au Train Island.
Police say a large wave swamped a boat Sunday evening, sending all seven occupants overboard. Six of the occupants were rescued and treated for hypothermia.
