CLEVELAND (AP) — Bobby Word made five of Cleveland State's school-record-tying 14 3-pointers in scoring 18 points and the Vikings upset Wright State 77-74 on Thursday night.
The loss dropped the Raiders (17-7, 9-2 Horizon) into a first-place tie with Northern Kentucky (9-2), which beat Youngstown State 95-85 Thursday.
Allen gets Detroit Mercy past Cleveland State late, 85-84
DETROIT (AP) — Corey Allen took the inbounds pass and went coast-to-coast for an uncontested layup with a second left to give Detroit Mercy an 85-84 win over Cleveland State Wednesday night.
Allen scored 14 of his team-high 25 points in the finals six minutes to earn Detroit Mercy its first Horizon League win in five starts.
Bell hits 5 3s, scores 19; Milwaukee beats Cleveland State
CLEVELAND (AP) — Jeremiah Bell tied his career high with five 3-pointers and scored 16 of his 19 points in the second half, Brett Prahl added 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting and Milwaukee beat Cleveland State 67-63 on Saturday.
Stull and Vance Johnson added 11 points apiece for Milwaukee (9-8, 2-2 Horizon League). Johnson also grabbed eight rebounds.

Morse’s 3-pointer with 0.6 left gives Penguins 80-77 victory
CLEVELAND (AP) — Cameron Morse answered Bobby Word's 3-pointer with a long, contested one of his own with 0.6 seconds remaining, giving Youngstown State its first Division-I victory of the season, 80-77 over Cleveland State in a Horizon League opener on Monday.
Word tied the game for the Vikings with nine seconds left with his fifth trey but Morse made his third from the arc for the Penguins' first road win after six losses.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Bobby Word and Kenny Carpenter combined to score 36 points and Cleveland State tied a school record by hitting 14 3-pointers en route to a comfortable, 89-56 win over Division II-Notre Dame College on Sunday.
The Vikings launched 39 3-point attempts. Word led the barrage, hitting 4 of 13 from distance. Shawn Christian, who hit 3 of 6 attempts from deep, and Carpenter, who was 2 of 6, were the only other players to convert more than a single trey.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Kenny Carpenter scored 17 points and Cleveland State held on to edge Arkansas State 75-72 on Wednesday night.
The Vikings (2-4) led 70-62 after a 10-0 run before the Red Wolves responded with seven straight to get within a point with 3½ minutes left. The margin was still one point, 73-72, when the teams both botched inbounds plays in the final five seconds giving the final possession to the Vikings, who added two free throws from Bobby Word.
Central Connecticut St. holds on to beat Cleveland St. 74-73
CLEVELAND (AP) — Austin Nehls scored seven of his 19 points in the final two minutes to help Central Connecticut State hold off Cleveland State for a 74-73 victory on Friday night.
Joe Hugley added 14 points for Central Connecticut State (3-3). Mustafa Jones had 13 points and Tyler Kohl chipped in 10.
Dontel Highsmith scored 17 points to lead Cleveland State (1-4). Bobby Word added 15 points and Stefan Kenic finished with 11.
East Carolina rallies to beat Cleveland State 72-69
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — B.J. Tyson had 25 points, Isaac Fleming scored the go-ahead points on a 3-point play with 29.7 seconds left and East Carolina scored the final 10 points to beat Cleveland State 72-69 on Monday night.
Carpenter’s big half carries Cleveland State to 80-56 win
CLEVELAND (AP) — Kenny Carpenter scored 24 of his career-high 26 points in the first half, making six 3-pointers, and Cleveland State picked up its first victory this season, beating Coppin State 80-56 on Friday night in the Vikings' home opener.
Carpenter, a senior, scored 11 points in a 13-5 run to start the game and the Vikings rode his big half to a 41-24 lead.
