Boeing delays call to discuss issues with its newest plane
Boeing Co. scrapped a conference call that it scheduled for Tuesday with airlines to discuss issues swirling around its newest plane, which has come under close scrutiny after a deadly crash in Indonesia.
The company didn't immediately give an explanation for canceling the call but later said it would instead hold a series of regional calls with airlines to allow more time for questions.

Flight-line employees at Boeing Co.'s North Charleston plant decided in May to join the International Association of Machinists.
But Boeing is asking the National Labor Relations Board to toss out that vote because flight-line workers aren't a distinct group from the rest of the plant.

Boeing and Embraer attempt a joint venture
Boeing and Brazilian jet maker Embraer have agreed to form a joint venture that would push the U.S. aerospace giant into the market for smaller passenger planes.
The new company is being valued at $4.75 billion. Boeing Co. said Thursday that it will own 80 percent while Embraer SA takes the remaining 20 percent.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal means Boeing's licenses to sell billions of dollars in commercial jetliners to Iran will be revoked, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Tuesday.
Mnuchin said that the existing licenses held by Chicago-based Boeing Co. and its European competitor, Airbus Group, would be invalidated by President Donald Trump's decision.
"The existing licenses will be revoked," Mnuchin told reporters.

SEATTLE (AP) — The U.S. government has agreed to chip in $51 million to clean up pollution at a Seattle site where The Boeing Co. made and tested B-17, B-52 and other bomber planes beginning in World War II.
Boeing had sought to have the government pay for a share of the company's cleanup costs, which it says have reached $220 million and counting. The Departments of Defense, Commerce and other agencies agreed in a proposed settlement filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Seattle.
Boeing says effect from computer virus was limited
SEATTLE (AP) — Boeing Co. says it detected an attack using the wannacry computer virus but that the intrusion caused little damage or disruption.
A Boeing spokeswoman said Thursday that the ransomware virus was contained to "a few machines" and was fixed with software patches. She said there was no effect on production work for airliners.
Wednesday's incident briefly set off alarm in the company and with Boeing's airline customers.

Boeing says 2017 aircraft deliveries set a record

Chicago-based Boeing Co. said Tuesday that it delivered 763 commercial planes last year, up from 748 in 2016 and beating its 2015 record by one. Two-thirds were 737s, an airline standard for short and medium-range flights.

$48M contract to fund further development on military drone
COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) — A drone maker has won a $48 million contract to continue developing its unmanned aerial vehicles in Mississippi and Virginia.
Local media in Mississippi report that the U.S. Air Force awarded the contract to Aurora Flight Sciences, which was bought by Boeing Co. in October.
Aurora's twin-engine Orion aircraft can fly for more than 100 hours at a time carrying loads of more than 1,000 pounds.
