BSU sinkhole causes flooding, closes streets
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise State University officials say a water main break flooded several streets and caused a sinkhole on campus.
According to university, the water main broke Sunday evening near the Student Union Building and forced a handful of streets to be closed. No injuries were reported, but students and traffic have been warned to stay from the area until further notice.

Man who killed Boise State student gets life in prison
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A 62-year-old man who killed an 18-year-old Boise State University student and dumped her body in a creek has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Bruce Marchant received the sentence Wednesday in 4th District Court after prosecutors argued Marchant will be dangerous for the rest of his life.
Marchant in September pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in a deal with prosecutors who agreed to drop rape and kidnapping charges.

New plant species to be named after late Idaho governor
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A newly discovered plant species will be named after the late Idaho Gov. Cecil Andrus after a group of his friends successfully helped raise $10,000 for researchers' work, they said.
Scientists from Boise State University and the College of Idaho discovered the new plant species in the Boise Foothills, KBSX-FM reported .
Boise State football ticket sales expected to drop again
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise State University officials say they expect football ticket revenue to drop again this season.
BSU Athletic Director Curt Apsey told the Idaho Statesman (http://bit.ly/2zipdQa ) that the Broncos have seen declining football ticket revenue for the past four years.
The Broncos brought in more than $7.5 million in 2012, when they enjoyed record average attendance and season-ticket sales. That number dropped to about $6.8 million last year.
Boise State declines to play ball at proposed downtown park
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise State University officials say they'll build their own baseball stadium on or near campus rather than play in a proposed stadium that a company wants to build near downtown.
Boise State Athletic Director Curt Apsey in a statement Thursday said it's in the school's interest to have its own stadium.

BSU sinkhole causes flooding, traps fire truck
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise State University officials say a water main break caused massive flooding to stream through a main artery on the campus and trapped a fire engine inside a sinkhole.
According to the university, a water main broke Monday evening near the Student Union Building. A fire engine responded, but got stuck in the sinkhole. It took two larger trucks to free the engine.
Suspect in murder of Boise State student pleads guilty
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A 61-year-old man who law enforcement officials believe killed an 18-year-old woman has reached a plea deal with prosecutors.
The Idaho Statesman (http://bit.ly/2gDbdoL ) reports that Bruce A. Marchant on Tuesday entered a guilty plea to a first-degree murder charge. In return, prosecutors have agreed to drop rape and kidnapping charges.
Labrador blasts BSU president following rally criticism
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho's U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador says maybe it's time for Boise State University President Bob Kustra to resign after Kustra criticized the Republican congressman's response to a recent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Labrador spoke out against Kustra during a Monday interview with 670 KBOI.
LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — Officials at University of Idaho, Boise State University and Idaho State University will ask the State Board of Education for permission to allow alcohol sales at home football games this year.
The board denied similar requests from UI and BSU last year.
If the request is granted, the universities would be able to allow alcohol sales at a few specific locations — such as UI's "Fan Zone" — before games.

Boise man charged with murder in apartment complex shooting
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A 30-year-old man is being held on $1 million bail following the fatal shooting of a man at an apartment complex near Boise State University.
Adam Bodenbach was charged with murder in connection with the shooting, which was reported around midnight Friday.
Officers had responded to find Ryan Harrison Banks suffering from a gunshot wound. The 20-year-old victim died at the scene.

Cause of Boise State building fire under investigation
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Officials say a fire has damaged an office building on Boise State University's campus.
Boise fire Chief Tom Pawek says firefighters arrived Saturday night to find smoke coming from the front and right-hand side of the building that is part of BSU's robotics laboratory.
Crews were able to extinguish the flames, and there were no reports of injuries.
