BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Juan Martin del Potro has fractured his right patella bone in what the Argentine called "a hard blow that leaves me without strength."
Del Potro retired Thursday against Borna Coric at the Shanghai Masters after injuring his knee. Third-seeded Del Potro fell near the end of the first set. The U.S. Open finalist had the knee wrapped but called it quits after losing the first set 7-5.

SHANGHAI (AP) — Novak Djokovic won a record fourth Shanghai Masters title with a 6-3, 6-4 win over 13th-seeded Borna Coric on Sunday.
The second-seeded Djokovic has won all four Shanghai finals he's contested in his career (2012, 2013, 2015 and 2018). He previously shared the record of winning three Shanghai titles with Andy Murray.

SHANGHAI (AP) — Borna Coric upset defending champion Roger Federer to face Novak Djokovic in the Shanghai Masters final on Sunday.
Coric earned passage to the final by taking down the top-seeded Federer 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals on Saturday.
"It was one of the best matches of my life," Coric said.
Coric said neck pain almost caused him to skip playing in Shanghai.
"Today, really, I just came on the court with absolutely no pressure. I basically didn't care, and that's why I played so good."

Monday's new order is the sixth change of the year at No. 1, the most since there were eight in 1999.
The record is 10 switches at No. 1 in 1983.
Federer still is expected to be seeded No. 1 for Wimbledon, where he won his record eighth championship a year ago. The grass-court Grand Slam tournament's seedings are scheduled to be announced Wednesday. Play begins next week.

The 48th-ranked Coric saved three match points in the third set tiebreaker before taking advantage of his lone match point when Carreno Busta netted a forehand to secure his place in the second round.
Coric successfully broke Carreno Busta's serve when the Spaniard was serving for the match at 5-4 and 6-5 in the third set.
Cornet beats Makarova in Kremlin Cup first round
MOSCOW (AP) — Alize Cornet of France beat hometown favorite Ekaterina Makarova 6-3, 6-3 at the Kremlin Cup on Monday to set up a possible second-round meeting with Maria Sharapova.
Cornet won a frantic match which included five consecutive breaks of serve in the first set.
Her victory means she will play Sharapova if the Russian beats Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia on Tuesday.
No. 4 seed Zverev finds US Open loss rather, well, upsetting
NEW YORK (AP) — Seems fair to conclude that No. 4-seeded Alexander Zverev found his 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (4) upset loss to Borna Coric in the U.S. Open's second round Wednesday night rather, well, upsetting.
"It's upsetting. Today was upsetting," Zverev said. "The way I played was upsetting. The tournament so far is upsetting for me."

MONTREAL (AP) — Top-seeded Rafael Nadal and No. 2 Roger Federer cruised to easy victories Wednesday in their opening matches at the Rogers Cup.

Kohlschreiber beats Sousa for Generali Open title
KITZBUEHEL, Austria (AP) — Philipp Kohlschreiber won his eighth career ATP tour title by defeating Joao Sousa of Portugal 6-3, 6-4 in the final of the Generali Open on Saturday.
The 47th-ranked German rallied from a break down in both sets and won five of the last six games to close out the win at the final clay-court event of the season.
Kohlschreiber's win came one week after he pulled out of his semifinal in Hamburg with a thigh injury.
PARIS (AP) — Steve Johnson held everything in, all of it, until he simply could not any longer.
Still mourning the recent death of his father, a tennis coach who helped Johnson learn the game back home in California, the 25th-seeded American didn't allow the jumble of feelings show outwardly. He didn't permit them to affect his ability to smack a tennis ball, either, and managed to edge Borna Coric 6-2, 7-6 (8), 3-6, 7-6 (6) and reach the French Open's third round.

MARRAKECH, Morocco (AP) — Borna Coric of Croatia claimed his first tour title on Sunday after saving five match points to defeat German veteran Philipp Kohlschreiber 5-7, 7-6 (3), 7-5 in the Grand Prix Hassan II final.
Coric, who was runner-up at the clay-court tournament last year, withstood 13 aces from the third-seeded Kohlschreiber and saved six of the nine break points he faced. The hard-fought contest lasted 2 hours, 38 minutes — the longest final this year according to the ATP.
