Homegrown band’s album is recording package Grammy nominee
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Bowling Green-based band Foxhole's latest album has snagged the attention of a Grammy nominating committee.
The album, "Well Kept Thing," has been nominated for best recording package.
Justin Shepherd, who plays guitar in Foxhole, said the packaging, including the embossed images on the front and back, were designed by Adam Moore, a graphic designer who also plays guitar in the band.
Shepherd said he was amazed to learn Moore had been nominated.
Kentucky child killed in attack by family pit bull mix dog
GUTHRIE, Ky. (AP) — Police in Kentucky say a 1-year-old boy has died after being mauled by the family pit bull mix dog.
WBKO-TV in Bowling Green reports Guthrie police responded to a home Thursday to find the boy unresponsive but breathing. Police said the child had deep abrasions on his head, chest and neck, and his grandmother also had injuries from trying to pull the dog off the boy.
Former university student sentenced to 4 years in shooting
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — A former Western Kentucky University student has been sentenced to four years in prison for fatally shooting another student.
The Daily News reports a judge called the case an "unspeakable tragedy" as he handed down the sentence on Wednesday for 22-year-old Peter G. Gall of Frankfort.
Kentucky highway fatalities down for second year
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Officials say traffic fatalities on Kentucky highways are down for the second year in a row.
The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety that says preliminary figures show there were 722 highway fatalities in 2018, down from 782 in 2017 and 834 in 2016.

Bowling Green rallies past No. 18 Buffalo 92-88
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — With a raucous home crowd poised to celebrate, Bowling Green needed to withstand one more 3-pointer by Buffalo star CJ Massinburg.
The shot bounced off the rim, and the Falcons closed out their upset.
"You make some, you miss some," Massinburg said.
Massinburg didn't miss many, scoring 19 of his 26 points in the second half, but it wasn't enough for No. 18 Buffalo. The Bulls wasted an eight-point halftime lead and lost 92-88 to Bowling Green on Friday night.
Western Kentucky beats UTSA in OT despite Jackson’s 46
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Charles Bassey and Lamonte Bearden scored 22 points each on Thursday night and Western Kentucky beat UTSA in overtime 96-88 despite Jhivvan Jackson's career-high 46 points for the Roadrunners.
Jackson's scoring output was the third most in program history and the second most in Conference USA history. He was 16 of 31 from the field, including 8 of 14 from 3-point range, and 6 of 8 from the foul line.
