Simpson, Armstrong lead South Dakota past North Dakota
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Tristan Simpson and Brandon Armstrong scored 13 points apiece and South Dakota led from start to finish in a 70-56 victory over North Dakota on Wednesday night.
Armstrong came off the bench, made two free throws and missed his only shot in the first half. He scored 11 points after halftime, including 7-of-10 free throws for 9-of-12 from the line for the game.
Kelley’s late layup pushes South Dakota past Denver 71-70
DENVER (AP) — Cody Kelley scored the game-winning layup with seven seconds left to give South Dakota a 71-70 victory over Denver on Wednesday night.
South Dakota's Brandon Armstrong hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 55 with about 10 minutes to play. The Coyotes led until Ronnie Harrell Jr. made the second of two free throws to put Denver up 70-69 with 21 seconds left. Kelley then drove the lane, pumped once and scored off the glass. Harrell missed a jumper with three seconds remaining.
Umude, South Dakota beat CSU Bakersfield 68-56
VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — Stanley Umude set career highs with 19 points and eight rebounds to help South Dakota beat CSU Bakersfield 68-56 on Saturday.
The Coyotes (4-3) took control with a 12-3 run capped by Brandon Armstrong's 3-pointer to make it 57-43 with 7:52 left. The Roadrunners (3-4) cut the deficit to eight with 1:03 to play, but South Dakota made 6 of 8 free throws in the final minute.

VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — Triston Simpson, Tyler Peterson and Brandon Armstrong combined for 69 points to help South Dakota beat Northern Arizona 90-74 on Monday night.
Northern Arizona (1-1) trailed 40-31 at halftime and stayed within single digits for most of the second half, but a 13-6 surge stretched South Dakota's (2-0) lead to 80-68 with 3:27 to play. Peterson scored five points and Simpson had four during the stretch.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Matt Mooney scored 20 and second-seeded South Dakota beat seventh-seeded Omaha 87-73 in the quarterfinals of the Summit League Tournament on Saturday night.
The Coyotes (25-7) led by 27 in the first half and easily held on to advance to a Monday semifinal matchup against Sunday's Denver-Oral Roberts winner.
South Dakota scored the first seven points of the game and had additional first-half runs of 12-0, 6-0 and 10-0 to lead 44-17.

S. Dakota takes down NAIA-member Peru St. 98-55

South Dakota dominates Fort Wayne in 86-69 victory
VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — Triston Simpson and Matt Mooney each scored 17 points and South Dakota defeated Fort Wayne 86-69 on Thursday night in a game in which the Coyotes never trailed.
South Dakota (21-6, 9-2 Summit League) built an 11-0 lead in the first three minutes and cruised from there. Bryson Scott put Fort Wayne on the board with a free throw and a layup before South Dakota went on a 10-0 run, including a pair of 3-pointers by Brandon Armstrong, to make it 21-3.
South Dakota wins Summit road opener, tops Fort Wayne 68-58
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Trey Burch-Manning, Tyler Hagedorn and Tyler Peterson each scored 12 points as South Dakota won its first Summit League road game of the season, downing Fort Wayne, 68-58 on Thursday night.
South Dakota swept the home-and-home season series last year and has won three straight against the Mastodons for the first time in the series.
UCLA holds off S Dakota 85-82
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Thomas Welsh scored 19 points and Aaron Holiday added 15 to lead UCLA to an 85-82 victory over South Dakota on Tuesday night.
Welsh, who is averaging a double-double this season, made 7 of 14 shots, pulled down 11 rebounds, had four assists and three blocks.
"I got a lot of good looks tonight and I took them," Welsh said.
Jaylen Hands and Gyorgy Goloman scored 12 points apiece and Chris Smith added 10 for the Bruins.
South Dakota pulls away from Mayville State in 87-59 win
VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — Matt Mooney scored 13 points with 6-for-11 shooting and South Dakota won its season opener 87-59 over NAIA program Mayville State on Saturday night.
Tyler Hagedorn and Tyler Peterson added 11 points each and Brandon Armstrong had 10 for South Dakota, last season's Summit League champion. The Coyotes controlled the boards 53-36 and never trailed.
South Dakota beats NAIA D-II member Presentation College
VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — Dan Jech, Trey Dickerson and Brandon Armstrong each scored 12 points and South Dakota beat NAIA Division II member Presentation College 99-60 on Wednesday night.
South Dakota made its first six shots, quickly built a 20-3 lead and held a 47-23 advantage at halftime after holding Presentation to 6-of-26 shooting.
Logan Power, who finished with eight points and a career-high 11 rebounds, hit a 3-pointer late in the second half to give South Dakota a 48-point lead.
