Strus scores 20, DePaul defeats Marquette 70-62
CHICAGO (AP) — Max Strus scored 15 of his 20 points in the second half and joined Marin Maric with a double-double and DePaul defeated Marquette 70-62 on Saturday.
Eli Cain had 14 points and Maric and Brandon Cyrus added 13 apiece for the Blue Demons (11-17, 4-12 Big East). Maric had 13 rebounds and Strus 11 as DePaul had a 49-30 rebounding advantage, including 19-6 on the offensive end that led to a 15-4 difference in second-chance points.
Marquette drops cold-shooting DePaul 70-52
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Sam Hauser was 5 of 10 from 3-point range and scored 19 points on Monday night to help Marquette beat DePaul 70-52.
Andrew Rowsey reached 2,000 career points on his first free throw of the night and finished with 11 points, nine assists and five steals for the Golden Eagles (13-6, 4-3 Big East). Rowsey played his first two seasons for UNC Asheville and is a senior at Marquette. Theo John also scored 11.
DePaul wins 5th straight, 83-59 over Alabama A&M
CHICAGO (AP) — Max Strus had 14 points, Tre'Darius McCallum added 13 and DePaul beat Alabama A&M 83-59 on Monday night.
Brandon Cyrus scored 12 and Austin Grandstaff had 11 for the Blue Demons (6-4), who won their fifth straight while keeping the Bulldogs (0-9) winless. DePaul has its longest streak since winning seven straight in the 2012-13 season.
DePaul cruises to 89-73 win over Youngstown State
CHICAGO (AP) — Max Strus scored 20 points with five rebounds, four assists and four steals and led five players in double-figure scoring as DePaul cruised to an 89-73 win over Youngstown State on Saturday afternoon.
Strus was 8 of 12 from the field including three 3-pointers for the Blue Demons (3-4). Marin Maric and Tre'Darius McCallum added 17 points apiece, Eli Cain had 15 points and seven rebounds and Brandon Cyrus chipped in 12 points off the bench.
DePaul sends Drake to fourth straight loss 77-75
CHICAGO (AP) — Eli Cain scored 19 points and DePaul came back from a nine-point halftime deficit to beat Drake 77-75 on Wednesday night.
The Blue Demons (4-1) have won three straight since dropping their second game of the season to Rutgers.
