Taylor dines on SIU-Edwardsville again to lead Austin Peay
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Terry Taylor scored 22 points with four 3-pointers and Austin Peay dispatched SIU-Edwardsville 80-45 on Thursday night.
The Governors (17-7, 9-2 Ohio Valley Conference) raced to a 33-5 lead as Taylor scored 18 of their points with nine coming from beyond the 3-point arc.
Austin Peay led 42-18 at the break on 18-of-36 shooting. Taylor had 20 by halftime. SIU-Edwardsville (8-15, 4-7) missed 19 of their first 25 shots and turned it over 11 times before intermission.

The Eagles (1-1) pulled away with a 14-4 run that ended at 65-54 on Bjorn Broman's 3-pointer with 13:41 left in the game. Cameron Williams' jumper briefly cut the Cougars' deficit back to single digits before Winthrop scored and led by double digits the rest of the way.

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Brandon Jackson led the way with a career-high 19 points, Justin Benton scored a career-high 17 points and Daniel Kinchen also scored 17 as Southern Illinois-Edwardsville rallied past Tennessee State 82-79 Saturday night.
Tennessee State took a 67-65 lead on a Kamar McKnight layup and Darreon Reddick's 3-pointer made it 72-67 with just over five minutes left.
Egekeze scores 29 points in Belmont’s 76-61 victory
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Amanze Egekeze scored 29 points with seven rebounds and Belmont rode a big first half to a 76-61 victory over SIU Edwardsville on Thursday night.
Egekeze scored 15 points in the first half including the final seven in a 12-0 run that put the Bruins up by 18 before the Cougars cut it to 12, 41-29, by the break.
The lead remained in double figures the rest of the way with Dylan Windler scoring eight points in a 10-3 run for a 17-point lead with 13 minutes remaining.
Stark scores 27, Murray State beats SIU-Edwardsville 87-63
MURRAY, Ky. (AP) — Jonathan Stark scored 27 points and Murray State beat SIU-Edwardsville 87-63 in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup on Saturday night.
Stark was 7 of 10 from the field and 5 of 7 from beyond the arc for the Racers (10-3, 2-0) who have won three straight. Shaq Buchanan and Bryon Hawkins added 11 points apiece and Ja Morant had 10.
Ugba, Taylor help Austin Peay take OVC opener 78-58
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Averyl Ugba and Terry Taylor combined for 40 points and 21 rebounds as Austin Peay opened up Ohio Valley Conference play with a 78-58 win over SIU-Edwardsville Thursday night.
The conference win was the first for coach Matt Figger, who took over for Dave Loos, who retired after 27 years coaching the Governors at the end of last season. The win was also the first conference opener Austin Peay has won since the 2013-14 season.
About 2 dozen NFL players protested during anthems Sunday
Days after the NFL declined to change its rule on the national anthem, about two dozen players protested around the league Sunday.
Associated Press journalists counted 22 players protesting during the anthems in some way before day games. Some took a knee, others sat on the bench, stayed in the tunnel or raised a fist.
On Sept. 25, days after President Donald Trump said players should be fired for protesting during the anthem, more than 200 players protested.
Army back to square 1 _ out to break two-game skid

EL PASO, Texas (AP) — Heavy hearts because of the death of a teammate haunt the Army Black Knights as they begin a three-game road trip trying to keep their season-opening win streak going.

WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) — A West Point football player from New York City died in a car accident hours after helping Army win its second straight game.
Cadet Brandon Jackson, a 20-year-old sophomore from Queens, died in a single-car accident at around 1:50 a.m. Sunday in Westchester County, north of New York City, according to police and the U.S. Military Academy.
