KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Rob Whitfield scored 19 points as UMKC topped Grand Canyon 87-75 in overtime on Thursday night.
Brandon McKissic added 16 points for the Kangaroos, while Xavier Bishop chipped in 15.
Jamel Allen had 12 points for UMKC (9-16, 4-6 Western Athletic Conference).
UT Rio Grande Valley uses 2 second-half runs to beat UMKC
EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — Jordan Jackson scored 22 points on 6-of-8 shooting, Greg Bowie II added 15 points with five 3-pointers, and UT Rio Grande Valley beat UMKC 75-63 on Saturday night.
The Vaqueros (12-12, 4-4 Western Athletic Conference) had two 13-2 scoring runs in the second half — the first turned a four-point deficit into a 49-42 lead and the second turned a four-point lead into a 64-49 advantage with 8:12 left. From there, the Kangaroos (8-15, 3-5) got no closer than the final score.
Utah Valley beats UMKC 75-67 for 1st conference road win
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Jake Toolson scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Richard Harward added 16 points and Utah Valley beat UMKC 75-67 on Thursday night for its first conference road win of the year.
Utah Valley closed the first half on a 27-8 run for a 40-30 lead and Wyatt Lowell opened the second half with a 3-pointer for a 13-point lead — the largest advantage of the game. UMKC got it to single digits from 17:32 on but couldn't get closer than two points the rest of the way.
Joiner’s free throws lift CSU Bakersfield over UMKC

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Ty-Shon Alexander scored 19 points and Creighton routed UMKC 89-53 on Thursday night to complete nonconference play.
Fellow guard Davion Mintz added 13 points, and Martin Krampelj had 11 for the Bluejays (9-4). Brandon McKissic led the Kangaroos (5-10) with 11 points, and Xavier Bishop and Rob Whitfield each had 10.
Allen has career-high 18 as UMKC thumps Elon 95-59
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Jamel Allen led six players in double-digit scoring with a career-high 18 points as UMKC powered out to an early lead and coasted to a 95-59 win over Elon on Saturday afternoon.
Allen was 4 of 8 from beyond the arc. Brandon McKissic and Marvin Nesbitt Jr. added 15 points apiece, and Xavier Bishop and Rob Whitfield chipped in 13 each. Jordan Giles contributed 10 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Rob Whitfield nailed 5 of 8 from distance to total 19 points and lead UMKC to an 80-67 win over McNeese on Saturday night.
UMKC (4-8), which started the season 0-6, has won three of its last four and four of its last six games.
Xavier Bishop added 16 points while dishing out seven assists, Jordan Giles had 14 points and Brandon McKissic chipped in 10 for the Kangaroos.
Milwaukee closes on 12-0 run, beats UMKC 69-66
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — DeAndre Abram had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Milwaukee scored the last 12 points to beat UMKC 69-66 on Thursday night.
Darius Roy added 17 points for Milwaukee (3-8), which shot 51 percent from the floor and snapped a four-game skid. Abram and Roy made 14 of the Panthers' 25 field goals.
UMKC gets first win, 94-58 over Avila
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Xavier Bishop scored 18 points, Danny Dixon had 14 with 10 rebounds, and UMKC won its first game of the season Saturday, beating NAIA-member Avila 94-58.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Alessandro Lever scored 29 points and Damari Milstead sank two free throws with 21 seconds remaining as third-seeded Grand Canyon recovered from first-half jitters in the school's first trip to the post season and defeat No. 5 seed Missouri-Kansas City 77-74 in the Western Athletic Conference quarterfinals Thursday.

CHICAGO (AP) — Deionte Simmons, Montana Byrd and Glen Burns combined for 58 points as Chicago State turned on the jets in the second half to beat UMKC 96-82, earning its first Western Athletic Conference victory in the regular-season finale on Saturday.
Simons scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Byrd scored 19 with four 3-pointers and Burns also scored 19, making 11 of 12 at the foul line for the Cougars (3-28, 1-13).
Jones has 15 points, 23 rebounds; New Mexico St. beats UMKC
LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Jemerrio Jones had 15 points, a career-high 23 rebounds and seven assists and New Mexico State never trailed in its 82-58 win over Missouri-Kansas City on Saturday night.
UMKC wins 83-59, now tied with UT Rio Grande Valley in WAC
EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — Broderick Robinson just missed a double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing nine rebounds as UMKC won its fourth straight game, thumping UT Rio Grande Valley, 83-59 in a Western Athletic Conference battle Thursday night.
The victory moves the Kangaroos into a tie with the Vaqueros for fifth place with two games left in the regular season. UMKC plays conference leader New Mexico State Saturday in Las Cruces.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Jordan Giles and Brandon McKissic each had 17 points and Isaiah Ross added 14 as UMKC beat Chicago State 76-67 on Thursday night.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Jordan Giles and Xavier Bishop each scored 18 points and Missouri-Kansas City upended Seattle 74-67 Thursday night, snapping the Redhawks' three-game win streak and securing a season sweep.
Isaiah Ross pulled UMKC (7-19, 2-7 Western Athletic Conference) into a 26-26 tie with six minutes left before halftime. The Kangaroos took off on a 15-3 run into the break and never trailed again.
Hayes sparks D-II William Jewell past UMKC 86-74
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Keith Hayes poured in 31 points, knocking down 5 of 7 3-pointers, and grabbed seven rebounds to help Division II William Jewell roll to an 86-74 victory over Missouri-Kansas City on Tuesday night.
Patrick Whelan and Byron Harp added 15 points apiece and Easton Koch scored 11 for the Cardinals, who turned 25 fouls against the Kangaroos (6-16) into a 29-for-34 night at the free-throw line.
Bishop earns UMKC 1st WAC win, tops CSU Bakersfield 62-59
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Xavier Bishop hit a 3-pointer with two seconds left in the game to lift UMKC to a 62-59 win over Cal State Bakersfield to earn its first Western Athletic Conference victory in four starts Thursday night.
Broderick Robinson hit three free throws with :44 left to give UMKC a 59-57 lead. Shon Briggs got to the basket for a layup with :29 left to tie the game at 59-59.
Jarkel Joiner put the Roadrunners in front, 57-56 with a 3-point play with 1:05 remaining.
Giles’ free throws helps Seattle sink UMKC 77-75
SEATTLE (AP) — Matej Kavas scored 22 points with 11 rebounds and Jordan Hill made two free throws with three seconds left and Seattle beat UMKC 77-75 on Saturday.
Hill made a 3 with 92 seconds left to put Seattle (13-7, 2-1 Western Athletic Conference) ahead 75-69. Jordan Giles made a 3, 12 seconds later, then Brandon McKissic came up with a steal and dished to Xavier Bishop to reduce the Kangaroos' deficit to a point with 49 seconds left.
Utah Valley hits 13 3s in 95-59 rout of UMKC
OREM, Utah (AP) — Kenneth Ogbe scored 18 points with four 3-pointers and Utah Valley pulled away early in its 95-59 rout of UMKC on Thursday night to win its sixth straight.
Conner Toolson and Jerrell DeBerry scored 17 points apiece with three 3s each and Ben Nakwaasah added 13 points with three 3s for the Wolverines (13-5, 2-0 Western Athletic Conference), who made 13 3-pointers and shot 53.3 percent from the floor.
Southeast Missouri State holds of UMKC 91-87
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Daniel Simmons scored 18 points, Ray Kowalski added 16 — both career-highs — and Southeast Missouri State held off Missouri, Kansas City 91-87 on Wednesday night.
Kowalski made two free throws with 2:29 left to extend SEMO's lead to 83-72. But UMKC went a 9-0 run — with 3-pointers by Brandon McKissic and Isaiah Ross.
Denzel Mahoney ended the run with a 3-pointer and SEMO made 5 of 6 free throws in the final 25 seconds to seal it.
