The 32-year-old Daniel is making his third career start. He had thrown just three passes over four years entering the Thanksgiving Day game.
The Lions previously ruled out rookie running back Kerryon Johnson (knee) and wide receiver Marvin Jones (knee) with injuries.
DETROIT (AP) — New England wide receiver Josh Gordon is inactive against the Detroit Lions on Sunday night, delaying his debut with the Patriots.
Gordon was listed as questionable with a hamstring injury. He was limited in practice after being acquired from the Cleveland Browns.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida quarterback Luke Del Rio has left Saturday's game against Vanderbilt with a left shoulder injury.
Making his first start of the season for the 21st-ranked Gators, Del Rio was slow to get up after rolling out of the pocket, completing a pass to Brandon Powell and getting knocked down. Del Rio was favoring his left shoulder as he walked off the field and trainers looked at him on the bench. He then headed to the locker room for most tests.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida coach Jim McElwain says the Southeastern Conference has overturned receiver Brandon Powell's suspension for throwing a punch.
Powell was ejected in the fourth quarter at Tennessee for seemingly swinging at safety Rashaan Gaulden. Replays showed Gaulden dramatically flopped as Powell turned in his direction. The official flagged Powell for unsportsmanlike conduct and kicked him out of the game.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — No. 23 Florida could be without leading receiver Antonio Callaway against North Texas on Saturday.
Coach Jim McElwain says he's "a little nervous" about Callaway's availability in the Gators' final tuneup before playing Southeastern Conference rival Tennessee.
Callaway injured a quadriceps in a 45-7 victory against Kentucky. Callaway leads Florida (2-0, 1-0 SEC) with 13 catches for 201 yards and two touchdowns, including a career-long, 78-yarder against the Wildcats.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — No. 25 Florida has ruled out receiver C.J. Worton for its season opener Saturday against UMass.
Coach Jim McElwain said Wednesday that Worton, who is being counted on to be a significant part of the receiving corps, won't be available because of a high ankle sprain. Worton hasn't practiced since injuring his right ankle about three weeks ago.
