Washington beats Arizona 67-60 to increase Pac-12 lead
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Matisse Thybulle set the tone early by blocking Brandon Randolph's jumper in the paint.
Washington's long-armed senior guard swatted away Ryan Luther's shot two minutes later and kept knocking balls away, swatting and stealing the Huskies to the cusp of a Pac-12 title.
Thybulle had 15 points, five blocked shots and five steals, helping Washington remain undefeated in Pac-12 play with a 67-60 win over Arizona on Thursday night.
Randolph nets 17 in Arizona’s 75-70 win over Stanford
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Arizona coach Sean Miller called it the "hidden story of the game," on the Wildcats turning the ball over twice in the second half.
"To play the final 20 minutes with only two turnovers gave us the best chance to win," Miller said. "A lot of times, the loss or the win happens because of an error."
Brandon Randolph scored 17 points, one of five players to reach double figures, and Arizona survived a scare from Stanford, beating the Cardinal 75-70 on Wednesday night.
Randolph, Jeter lead Arizona to OT win over Utah
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona escaped with an intense 84-81 overtime win over Utah on Saturday, an outcome that had a lot to do with who wasn't playing at the end.
"One of the keys to us winning was Sedrick Barefield fouling out," Wildcats coach Sean Miller said. "... Fouling him out really changed the game down the stretch and in overtime."
Barefield scored 26 points, including 5 of 9 3-pointers, but fouled out with 1:44 to play.
Arizona opens Pac-12 play with 64-56 win over Colorado
TUSCON, Ariz. (AP) — Freshman Brandon Williams started at a new position Thursday, and he made it look old hat.
Williams had 14 points and six assists while opening at point guard in place of injured regular Justin Coleman, helping to lead Arizona to 64-56 victory over Colorado in the Pac-12 opener for both.
"I just had to step up," said Williams, who usually plays off guard.
Lewis’s late 3 helps lift Alabama past Arizona, 76-73
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Kira Lewis Jr. and Alabama made sure this one didn't slip away.
The freshman made a 3-pointer and two free throws over the final 13 seconds and the Crimson Tide held on for a 76-73 victory over Arizona on Sunday.
Lewis pulled up for the uncontested shot after the Tide (6-3), which had lost a big lead for the second straight game, worked most of the shot clock down. His teammates weren't surprised that the 5-star recruit made the big shot.
Arizona rallies in second half to beat Utah Valley 80-69
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — As each 3-pointer dropped, Brandon Randolph seemed to grow more demonstrative and more willing to test his range.
By the time Randolph drained his fourth 3-pointer in the first two minutes of the second half, the Wildcats had overcome a 12-point halftime deficit and were on the way to a 51-point second half and an 80-69 victory over Utah Valley on Tuesday at McKale Center.
Arizona wins first true road game, 76-72 over UConn
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Arizona didn't make a basket over the final 6½ minutes against UConn, but hit enough free throws to hold off the Huskies.
Brandon Randolph scored 20 points and Chase Jeter added 14 as Arizona won its first true road game of the season, 76-72 on Sunday in front of more than 14,600 fans in Hartford.
The only losses so far for the travel-weary Wildcats (6-2) came in Maui to top-ranked Gonzaga and No. 8 Auburn.

OREM, Utah (AP) — Kenneth Ogbe scored 22 points with four 3-pointers, Brandon Randolph added 17 points, and Utah Valley snapped New Mexico State's 11-game win streak with an 86-79 victory on Thursday night.

OREM, Utah (AP) — Kenneth Ogbe scored 23 points including a key 3-pointer and Utah Valley beat Cal State Fullerton 87-78 on Saturday night.
Ogbe's 3 gave the Wolverines a 73-63 lead with 5:32 to play. Kyle Allman scored five points to pull Cal State Fullerton to 73-68 before Utah Valley closed on a 14-10 surge. Ogbe made 1 of 3 free throws and Brandon Randolph converted a 3-point play and made six free throws during the stretch.
UVU men’s basketball builds big lead, holds off late UC Riverside rally
Just looking at the statistics from Thursday night’s home game against UC Riverside, you would think the UVU men’s basketball team cruised to victory.
The Wolverines shot 58.8 percent from the field (31-of-57), had 27 assists to just 11 turnovers and made 16 3-pointers — including a school-record 13 in the first half.
But with 4:45 left in the game, UVU’s 21-point lead had been trimmed by the Highlanders to just 78-74.

Jake Toolson scored 12 points, Akolda Manyang and Conner Toolson 11 each and Brandon Randolph 10 for the Wolverines (8-5), who shot 56 percent, outrebounded the Orediggers 47-22 and dominated in the paint with a 48-18 scoring advantage.

OREM, Utah (AP) — Akolda Manyang scored 25 points pulled down 15 rebounds and blocked six shots and Utah Valley defeated in-state rival Weber State 83-56 Wednesday night.
The rebounds and points are both career highs for Manyang and he tied his best mark with the half dozen blocks. Conner Toolson added 16 points, Kenneth Ogbe 15 and Brandon Randolph 10 for the Wolverines (6-3).
Arizona hangs on to beat No. 7 Texas A&M 67-64
PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona faced one challenge on the road over the weekend and had an even bigger one on a neutral court.
The Wildcats pulled out tight wins against good teams in both, a sign that they may be back on track.
Deandre Ayton had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Arizona held on to beat No. 7 Texas A&M 67-64 on Tuesday night.
"I was happy we were able to embrace the challenge," Arizona coach Sean Miller said. "I think this was our best defensive effort of the year."
Neilson, Toolson lead Utah Valley past UT San Antonio 88-80
OREM, Utah (AP) — Isaac Neilson and Conner Toolson scored 19 points apiece and Utah Valley beat UT San Antonio 88-80 on Saturday night.
Neilson also had 12 rebounds for the Wolverines (5-3). Jake Toolson scored 16 points with four rebounds, Kenneth Ogbe added 13 points and Brandon Randolph had 11 points with nine rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Arizona still searching for consistent defensive intensity
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona freshman Brandon Randolph watched the ball rotate to his side of the floor and was late getting out to a shooter on the wing.
The Long Beach State player made the open shot and Randolph jogged back on offense.
Wildcats coach Sean Miller saw the play unfold and turned a dark shade of red.
"What is he doing?!" Miller screamed to one of his assistants, his voice cracking from yelling so loud. "What is he doing?!"
BYU beats Utah Valley 85-58 on Childs’ career night
OREM, Utah (AP) — Yoeli Childs scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his third straight double-double, and BYU beat Utah Valley 85-58 in the Crosstown Clash on Wednesday night.
TJ Haws scored 11 points, Elijah Bryant had nine rebounds, and the Cougars (5-2) had a season-high 25 assists, led by McKay Cannon with six in his debut and Childs, Haws and Bryant with four apiece.
Ogbe with 21 points as Utah Valley beats UC Davis 80-71
OREM, Utah (AP) — Kenneth Ogbe scored 21 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead four players in double figures as Utah Valley beat UC Davis 80-71 on Saturday afternoon.
Akolda Manyang and Conner Toolson added 16 points apiece for the Wolverines (2-2) and Jake Toolson had 13 points, five rebounds and five assists. Manyang led the team with eight rebounds.
Utah Valley averaged 49 percent shooting from the field, 50 percent from beyond the arc and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line.
