TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals have placed six players on the Physically Unable to Perform list before the start of training camp next week.
Williams scores 20, Arizona beats Oregon State 82-71
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona center Chase Jeter writhed in agony after landing square on his back before gingerly walking to the locker room.
Four minutes into the game, the Wildcats were without their lone big man, unsure how badly he was injured.
Arizona's players collectively picked up the slack by crashing the boards and draining 3-pointers, earning a solid victory on the heels of a disappointing loss.
Jeter scores 23 as Arizona routs Cal 87-55
BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) — Arizona came out sluggish offensively Saturday night, but feeding the ball inside to Chase Jeter proved a good remedy.
Jeter scored a career-high 23 points and Arizona rolled past California 87-65 to complete a Bay Area road sweep.
The Wildcats (13-4, 4-0 Pac-12) found their rhythm late in the first half, taking a 12-point lead into the break and then turning the game into a rout in the second half as they extended their winning streak to six games.
Randolph nets 17 in Arizona’s 75-70 win over Stanford
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Arizona coach Sean Miller called it the "hidden story of the game," on the Wildcats turning the ball over twice in the second half.
"To play the final 20 minutes with only two turnovers gave us the best chance to win," Miller said. "A lot of times, the loss or the win happens because of an error."
Brandon Randolph scored 17 points, one of five players to reach double figures, and Arizona survived a scare from Stanford, beating the Cardinal 75-70 on Wednesday night.
Randolph, Jeter lead Arizona to OT win over Utah
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona escaped with an intense 84-81 overtime win over Utah on Saturday, an outcome that had a lot to do with who wasn't playing at the end.
"One of the keys to us winning was Sedrick Barefield fouling out," Wildcats coach Sean Miller said. "... Fouling him out really changed the game down the stretch and in overtime."
Barefield scored 26 points, including 5 of 9 3-pointers, but fouled out with 1:44 to play.
Arizona opens Pac-12 play with 64-56 win over Colorado
TUSCON, Ariz. (AP) — Freshman Brandon Williams started at a new position Thursday, and he made it look old hat.
Williams had 14 points and six assists while opening at point guard in place of injured regular Justin Coleman, helping to lead Arizona to 64-56 victory over Colorado in the Pac-12 opener for both.
"I just had to step up," said Williams, who usually plays off guard.
Arizona rallies in second half to beat Utah Valley 80-69
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — As each 3-pointer dropped, Brandon Randolph seemed to grow more demonstrative and more willing to test his range.
By the time Randolph drained his fourth 3-pointer in the first two minutes of the second half, the Wildcats had overcome a 12-point halftime deficit and were on the way to a 51-point second half and an 80-69 victory over Utah Valley on Tuesday at McKale Center.
Williams, Randolph pace Arizona to rout of UTEP
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — The reconstructed, guard-oriented Arizona Wildcats cruised to another victory. Now the team heads for Maui where the competition gets a whole lot tougher.
Brandon Williams and Brandon Randolph scored 21 points apiece and the Wildcats tuned up for that trip with a 79-46 rout of UTEP on Wednesday night.
Pats’ Edelman fined $26,739 by NFL for unnecessary roughness
NEW YORK (AP) — The NFL has fined Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman $26,739 for an unnecessary roughness penalty in New England's win over Buffalo on Monday night.
Edelman was called for an illegal block after a fair catch signal, but before the ball was touched on a Bills punt in the third quarter.
Giants safety Sean Chandler was fined $20,054 for unnecessary roughness for a horse-collar tackle in the fourth quarter of their 20-13 loss to Washington on Sunday.
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — Operating in the middle of the Baltimore Ravens defensive line, Brandon Williams is expected to bang helmets with one or two 300-pound brutes before pushing them aside so one of his teammates can make the tackle.
Although the task is instrumental to the success of Baltimore's gritty defense, it often goes unnoticed by the casual fan and does not produce impressive statistical numbers.
Bol Bol and Louis King are joining Brandon Williams on his official visit to Oregon.
The two five-star recruits who have signed with the Ducks are looking to strengthen the highest-rated recruiting class in school history by convincing Williams to join them now that the spring signing period began Wednesday.
Bol and King are in Portland for the Nike Hoop Summit on Friday and will head to Eugene following the game.
“I’m just trying to get Brandon Williams to school,” King said.
When Dana Altman began recruiting at the end of Oregon’s basketball season, he had one scholarship to offer.
The coach knew additional spots could open up and two more became available Tuesday; Troy Brown declared for the NBA draft following his freshman season and Keith Smith elected to transfer for his final two years of eligibility.
BALTIMORE (AP) — Between the three of them, they cover the career arch of an NFL player. Tight end Benjamin Watson has played 14 NFL seasons. A six-year veteran, defensive tackle Brandon Williams believes he's just entering his prime. Outside linebacker Matthew Judon's first two seasons with the Ravens hint at a long and productive career.

Ravens look to clinch wild-card berth against Bengals
BALTIMORE (AP) — The Baltimore Ravens fully understand the ramifications of Sunday's regular-season finale against Cincinnati.
"It pretty much lets us know if we're going to be on the couch next week or on the field," Ravens tackle Brandon Williams said. "Definitely don't want to be on the couch."
Beat or tie the Bengals (6-9), and the Ravens (9-6) end a two-year hiatus from the postseason. Lose, and Baltimore will need help (a loss or tie by either Buffalo or Tennessee) to get in.
Indianapolis adds 2 more starters to injured reserve list
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indianapolis Colts put center Ryan Kelly and inside linebacker Jon Bostic on injured reserve Monday, ending their seasons.
Kelly missed the last three games with a concussion after sitting out the Colts' first four games with a broken foot. He was Indy's first-round draft pick in 2016 and started all 16 games.
Shoulder injury forces Broncos quarterback out of game
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis Colts tight end Brandon Williams was strapped onto a backboard and taken off the field on a golf cart after suffering a head injury early in the second quarter Thursday against Denver.
Team officials said he had movement in his limbs and it was not a neck injury. The Colts also said Williams was strapped down for precautionary reasons and will not return to the game.
London native Eluemunor active for Ravens’ game vs. Jaguars
LONDON (AP) — Baltimore Ravens rookie offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor, born in London, is active for the first time in the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium.
Eluemunor, a fifth-round draft pick out of Texas A&M, was 12 when he saw the first NFL game played in London on television and decided he wanted to play football.
Ravens stellar defense ready to ‘chase perfection’
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — The Baltimore Ravens knew their defense was going to better this year, and their season-opening shutout of Cincinnati seemed to bear out that assessment.
After forcing five turnovers and getting five sacks in a 20-0 rout, they still believe there is room for improvement.
"We can build on that," coach John Harbaugh said Monday. "We can always work on the things that we need to work on to chase perfection."
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals bolstered arguably their weakest position by signing ex-Cleveland cornerback Tramon Williams.
Finding a cornerback to play opposite Patrick Peterson has been a problem for Arizona. Coach Bruce Arians recently declared it open between Justin Bethel and Brandon Williams, although Ronald Zamort, an undrafted rookie, had looked good at the position before tearing an ACL in Saturday's Red and Blue practice.
Colts sign free agent wide receiver Kamar Aiken
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Free agent wide receiver Kamar Aiken has signed with the Indianapolis Colts.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Central Florida product spent the past four seasons with Baltimore. He entered the league as an undrafted rookie with the Buffalo Bills in 2011 and spent most of his three years on the practice squad in Buffalo, Chicago and Baltimore. He also played one game for the New England Patriots in 2012.
Ravens agree to terms with DT Brandon Williams
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — The Baltimore Ravens have agreed in principle to a five-year contract with nose tackle Brandon Williams.
Williams has spent his entire career with the Ravens after being selected in the third round of the 2013 draft. Known for his ability to stop the run, he has 158 tackles in 55 games, along with 4½ sacks and three forced fumbles.
The 6-foot-1, 340-pounder had 51 tackles and a sack in 2016.
Cardinals return to practice, Mathieu ‘close’ to return
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals returned to practice Tuesday after a long bye weekend off and the biggest news was Tyrann Mathieu's rapid recovery from a shoulder injury.
Coach Bruce Arians said he "'really has" been surprised by how quickly Mathieu is coming back. The do-everything All-Pro defensive back was projected to be out three to six weeks after he sustained a shoulder subluxation in the team's Oct. 30 loss at Carolina.
Palmer active; Chancellor, John Brown sit out Sunday night
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona quarterback Carson Palmer was active Sunday night against Seattle after being listed as questionable Friday with a hamstring injury.
The Seahawks were without safety Kam Chancellor and the Cardinals didn't have wide receiver John Brown. Chancellor has a groin injury and Brown has been diagnosed with sickle cell traits that cause pain in his legs.
Jets’ Harris, Cardinals’ Iupati inactive
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — New York Jets inside linebacker David Harris and Arizona Cardinals left guard Mike Iupati are inactive for Monday night's game.
Harris has a hamstring injury and Iupati is sidelined with a sprained ankle.
Also inactive for the Jets were quarterback Christian Hackenberg, quarterback Bryce Petty, wide receiver Jeremy Butler, tackle Brandon Shell and tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who had been listed as questionable with an ankle injury.
Ready or not, rookie Williams to start for Cardinals
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Rookie Brandon Williams is the starting cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals.
Playing opposite All-Pro Patrick Peterson, there will be a barrage of passes coming Williams' way.
Is he ready?
"He's the best we've got," coach Bruce Arians said after practice Wednesday, "so he better be."
It's almost Williams' job by default. Mike Jenkins tore an ACL and is out for the season. Justin Bethel has a bad foot. Marcus Cooper just got here.
Chiefs send CB Marcus Cooper to Cardinals for draft pick
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chiefs sent cornerback Marcus Cooper to the Arizona Cardinals for an undisclosed draft pick on Friday as they began the process of trimming their roster.
The Cardinals have been trying to find a cornerback to start across from Patrick Peterson.
Cardinals CB questions amplified by loss of Mike Jenkins
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals lost another preseason game, but more significantly, lost one of the three players who were vying to start at cornerback opposite All-Pro Patrick Peterson.
That position is the only one on either the Arizona offense or defense to be unsettled, and on Monday it was down to rookie Brandon Williams against rusty Justin Bethel.
Cardinals wrap up “business-like” training camp
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals ended one of the NFL's longer training camps on Friday, shutting it down amid talk around the league that this could be a Super Bowl team.
"I thought it was very business-like," coach Bruce Arians said. "I thought our guys came to work every day. We had maybe two lull practices, mostly young guys."
Keenan Allen draws cornerback Jason Verrett in coverage every practice.
What that does to prepare Allen becomes apparent whenever he, well, draws someone else.
While the Chargers wide receiver does claim some success against his teammate, that outcome seemed in larger supply the past two days. Allen had a productive pair of joint practices against the Cardinals. He is scheduled to see them again Friday in a 6 p.m. exhibition game at Qualcomm Stadium.
Cardinals activate Mathieu, 2 others from PUP list
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals have activated All-Pro safety Tyrann Mathieu, cornerback Justin Bethel and defensive lineman Frostee Rucker from the physically unable to perform list.
Coach Bruce Arians had said the moves could come this week, but the three would not be able to practice right away. Instead, they would only go through walkthroughs to get "mental reps."
Rookie cornerback makes big impression at Cardinals camp
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Only one rookie is listed as a starter for the Arizona Cardinals for Friday night's preseason opener against Oakland. Brandon Williams will be at cornerback, a position he played for just one college season.
That switch from part-time running back at Texas A&M was the starting point for this rapid ascent to an important role on a team that expects to contend for the Super Bowl.
"I know how hard I worked for it," Williams said after...
