Skinner scored 3:06 into overtime after getting the tying goal late in regulation, and the Buffalo Sabres beat the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 on Friday for their eighth straight win.
It's the longest streak for Buffalo since winning 10 games in a row to start the 2006-07 season. That also was the last season the Sabres (15-6-2) had this many victories after 23 games.

Shore had a goal and two assists, Bishop stopped 34 shots and the Dallas Stars beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-1 on Tuesday night.
Esa Lindell and Miro Heiskanen also scored, and Alexander Radulov added an empty-netter for Dallas, which won on the road for the first time this season. This was the second stop on the Stars' six-game road trip.
Price, Canadiens blank Bruins, 3-0
BOSTON (AP) — Carey Price knew he had a lot of help in front of him and was more than willing to credit them.
Price stopped 33 shots for his first shutout of the season, collecting his 290th career win with Montreal to move into second place in team history in the Canadiens' 3-0 win over the Boston Bruins on Saturday night.
"Shutouts should be a team stat, really," he said. "Everybody did an excellent job on defense tonight."
