Titans bring back lineman Brian Schwenke, waive Tim Lelito
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have brought back offensive lineman Brian Schwenke and waived center-guard Tim Lelito.
Tennessee drafted Schwenke in the fourth round out of California in 2013. He started 25 games at center and three at left guard playing in 41 career games. He signed with Indianapolis this offseason only to be released Sunday.
Schwenke’s return gives Colts’ offensive line a boost
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indianapolis Colts spent three weeks trying to plug holes on the offensive line.
Colts add Margus Hunt, Brian Schwenke
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indianapolis Colts have signed two more free agents — defensive end Margus Hunt and offensive lineman Brian Schwenke.
Terms of the deals were not immediately available.
Hunt was Cincinnati's second-round pick in 2013 and played in 44 games, with 26 tackles, 1½ sacks and three passes defensed. The 6-foot-8, 295-pound Hunt also blocked three kicks. He becomes the fourth defensive free agent Indy has signed since Thursday.
Titans without half of starting secondary vs. Jaguars
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans are without three starters against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night, including half of their secondary.
The Titans already had declared safety Rashad Johnson (neck) and cornerback Perrish Cox (concussion) out, and Daimion Stafford will start at safety with Brice McCain at cornerback. Brian Schwenke will start at left guard with Quinton Spain (bruised right knee) out.
Mularkey: Titans guard Quinton Spain to miss up to 4 weeks
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee coach Mike Mularkey says starting left guard Quinton Spain has a bruised bone in his right knee and will miss up to four weeks.
Mularkey said Monday the injury is serious but not as significant as the Titans had feared.
Spain was carted off the field in the second quarter of a 34-26 loss to Indianapolis.
Cornerback Perrish Cox is in the concussion protocol and likely will not be cleared to play Thursday night when the Titans (3-4) host the Jaguars (2-4).
Titans guard Chance Warmack to have surgery on right hand
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee right guard Chance Warmack will have surgery to repair a torn tendon in a finger on his right hand, and the Titans plan to place him on injured reserve.
Coach Mike Mularkey said Wednesday Warmack chose to have surgery and would have to play with his hand wrapped like a club if he returned. The coach says it's tough to play Warmack's position with a club on your hand, making it likely Warmack will miss the rest of the season.
