BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Browns cornerback Howard Wilson will miss his second straight NFL season before it started.
Wilson had surgery on Tuesday for a torn left patellar tendon and is expected to be sidelined the entire 2018 season, a cruel blow for the former fourth-round pick who missed last season after breaking his kneecap in rookie minicamp and undergoing surgery.
Wilson, who played collegiately at Houston, had not been practicing with the team during OTAs.
Punter Colquitt, Browns agree to 4-year contract extension
CLEVELAND (AP) — Punter Britton Colquitt has agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Cleveland Browns.
Colquitt set a single-season record for net average (40.3 yards) in his first year with Cleveland in 2016. A Super Bowl winner with Denver, Colquitt also placed 22 punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line.
Colquitt said he's thrilled by the deal and called the Browns "a class act."
If Giants need it, Beckham willing to be punt returner
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Odell Beckham Jr. wants the ball any way he can get it.
If that means the big-play wide receiver adds the job of returning punts for the New York Giants, he's up for it.
Beckham showed what he could do as a returner in the fourth quarter of the Giants' 27-13 win over Cleveland on Sunday, fielding Britton Colquitt's 54-yard punt, finding an opening in the converging Browns, and then cutting across the field for a 59-yard touchdown return .

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Following his first practice with the Browns, former Denver Broncos punter Britton Colquitt felt both welcomed and strangely out of place.
"I feel ancient compared to some of these guys," the 31-year-old said.

Broncos trim roster but 1 cut already hurts
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — NFL coaches preach all summer about keeping the best 53 players on the roster. Sometimes, however, money gets in the way and decisions are made based as much on payroll as performance.
The Broncos could pay the price this season for one such move.
