They have lost the first six games to start their SEC schedule, and the skid reached seven straight last weekend with an 86-55 loss at Oklahoma in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. That matched a seven-game skid in January 2015 under former coach Kevin Stallings.
Guard declares for NBA draft after knee injury ended season
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Vanderbilt point guard Darius Garland says he's leaving for the NBA draft after a knee injury ended his freshman season in November.

Vanderbilt announced the transfer Friday.
The 6-foot-8 forward from Gahanna, Ohio, will sit out this season as a transfer and be eligible for 2019-20. Moyer redshirted with an injury in 2016-17 and started 20 of his 35 games this season averaging 3.2 point and 3.4 rebounds a game. He had a career-high 18 points against Connecticut.

The 6-foot-2 guard from Brookfield, Wisconsin, scored a career-high 27 points in a 74-62 win over Radford on Tuesday night.

Vanderbilt signs Simisola Shittu to 2018 recruiting class
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Vanderbilt coach Bryce Drew has landed his second top recruit this month with Simisola Shittu signing his national letter of intent for the class of 2018.
The 6-foot-9 forward signed his letter Wednesday. A five-star recruit, Shittu is a consensus top 10 player and rated the nation's eighth-best prospect by Rivals.com.

The 6-foot-6 forward from Houston had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Commodores to a 79-76 win over UNC Asheville in the first round of the NIT Season Tip-Off on Friday night.

Garland signed Monday.
The 6-foot-2 point guard from Brentwood Academy in Tennessee is a unanimous five-star recruit and rated a consensus top 10 player by several recruiting services for the class of 2018. Garland visited Indiana, Kentucky and UCLA before choosing to stay close to home at Vanderbilt.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Jajuan Johnson had 21 points, Luke Fischer scored 18 and Marquette spoiled Vanderbilt coach Bryce Drew's debut with a 95-71 victory in the opening game of the Veterans Classic at the Navy Academy on Friday night.
Haanif Cheatham added 15 points and Sam Hauser finished with 14 points for the Golden Eagles, who shot 39 of 74 (53 percent) from the field.
