STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Marcus Sheffield hasn't scored much this season. When he's needed, though, he's ready.
Sheffield, who missed of all last year with an injury, scored a season-high 16 points, including a key 3-pointer, and Stanford rallied to beat Southern California 79-76 on Wednesday night.
"I stay prepared, come in and play defense," Sheffield said. "The shots are going to come."
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Oscar da Silva reset the way he approached the game and that led to a big offensive night.
Da Silva scored 21 points and had seven rebounds and Stanford ended a nine-game losing streak to Colorado with a 75-62 victory over the Buffaloes on Saturday.
"It's a mindset of wanting to win," da Silva said. "Finding a rhythm early helps."
Da Silva, who went scoreless in Thursday's loss to Utah, had 13 points in the first half.
PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Daejon Davis scored 15 points with six assists and Stanford beat Washington State 78-66 on Saturday.
WSU cut the lead to 69-64 on Robert Franks' two free throws with 2:28 left but then knocked a potential defensive rebound out of bounds. Bryce Wills made an easy dunk on the next possession to extend the lead and Stanford (9-9, 2-4, Pac-12 Conference) scored six unanswered points in the final 55 seconds.
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Oscar da Silva had last year's loss to Portland State on his mind and used it for motivation. Josh Sharma said it felt like he had a chip on his shoulder.
Da Silva scored 12 points, Bryce Wills added 10 and six others scored at least seven points in helping Stanford down Portland State 79-67 on Wednesday night.
