Ohio firefighters monitor blaze in docked ship; no injuries
OREGON, Ohio (AP) — A fire continues to burn inside a Lake Erie docked vessel as Ohio firefighters try to cool the ship in an incident with no injuries.
The fire broke out on the deck of the St. Clair Saturday night at the Port of Toledo in northern Ohio. The cause is still undetermined.
Denny Hartman is chief of the fire department in Oregon, Ohio. He said Sunday morning that the fire apparently burned through the deck and ignited an enormous rubber conveyor belt below.

DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — A worker repairing a semitrailer in Georgia suffered severe burns in an explosion.
DeKalb County Fire Rescue spokesman Dion Bentley tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the explosion occurred Thursday morning at a tractor-trailer repair factory. Bentley says the victim suffered burns from the waist up.

Richmond Animal Care and Control says in a Facebook post that the male brindle pit bull was tied to a pole in a city park, covered in accelerant and set on fire Sunday night. It says witnesses saw a man wearing multiple layers of pants run from the scene.

MAMARONECK, N.Y. (AP) — A New York man has suffered severe burns after he says an e-cigarette battery exploded in his pants pocket.
Jacob Dudhnath says he had just arrived at work Monday morning in Mamaroneck Monday morning when the battery burst into flames.
The 27-year-old says he began rolling on the ground, and his co-worker Kevin Carrelli says he burned his hands trying to rip the pants off.

Man dies of burn injuries in fire outside restaurant
DOVER, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire fire officials say a man has died of burn injuries from a restaurant fire in Dover.
State Fire Marshal Paul Parisi said 49-year-old Richard Romonoski, of Berwick, Maine, died at Massachusetts General Hospital on Monday.
Parisi said the investigation showed the fire on Saturday outside the Strafford Farms Restaurant involved only Romonoski and the cause of the fire has been ruled incendiary. There are no pending criminal charges in the investigation.
Ship’s engine accident burns 2, prompts Coast Guard airlift
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard has flown two crew members from a cruise ship after they suffered burns during an accident in the engine room.
The Coast Guard said in news release that the incident occurred Monday aboard the Norwegian Escape. The ship was about 24 miles from North Carolina's coast.

FRYEBURG, Maine (AP) — Fire officials say a person suffered burns in a fire that caused about $100,000 in damage to a garage in Fryeburg.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a 5-year-old girl who suffered severe burns after a fire at an apartment building in east Medford Nov. 2 has died.
The Mail Tribune reported Thursday that Medford Police Lt. Mike Budrea confirmed that Olivia Chapman died at a Portland hospital over the weekend.
Chapman's mother Trish Ellsworth posted on Facebook that the child had endured heart and lung problems since the fire.
2 men burned at Los Angeles water and power facility
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say two workers have suffered burns in an electrical accident a Los Angeles water filtration plant.
The Fire Department says it happened at around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at a Granada Hills facility. Two men were hospitalized in serious but stable condition with facial burns and possibly other injuries.
A third man also was taken to the hospital for examination although he didn't have any apparent injuries.
2 teens suffer burns after tree fort catches fire
SPRING LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Two western Michigan teens have suffered second- and third-degree burns after a tree fort they were sleeping in caught fire.
The fire started about 1 a.m. Saturday in Spring Lake Township, northwest of Grand Rapids.
Authorities say five teens originally were in the wooden structure which was about two feet off the ground. A fire pit was built inside with cinder blocks.
Panda Express worker suffers burns after explosion
KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (AP) — An employee at a Hawaii Panda Express was taken to the hospital for burn injuries following a suspected gas explosion at the restaurant.

MASHPEE, Mass. (AP) — Fire officials say a 22-year-old Cape Cod man has been transported to a Boston hospital with third-degree burns after throwing gasoline onto a backyard fire.
Mashpee Fire Lt. Richard Thayer says the victim suffered burns to his face, head, chest and arms just after 11 p.m. Sunday. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
