EcoVadis Expands to Japan as Demand for Sustainable Procurement Programs Escalates

November 13, 2019

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov 13, 2019--

Today, EcoVadis, the world leader in business sustainability intelligence and ratings for global supply chains, announced its new office in Japan. With corporate commitments and investments in sustainability increasing across Asia Pacific, EcoVadis has built out its presence to help businesses advance and scale their sustainable procurement programs faster with on-the-ground, local support.

As part of the expansion, EcoVadis has grown its team of local, native speakers to support buy-side companies based in the region, as well as suppliers and other assessed companies. Enterprise account success managers and commercial representatives will bring additional expertise in best practice adoption and extensive experience in designing sustainable procurement programs. Supplier onboarding and engagement support teams will also be available in the new office.

“With Japanese companies consistently leading in sustainability performance and the country recently adopting a new national environmental plan, the market is primed for greater emphasis on responsible and ethical procurement,” said Pierre-Francois Thaler, co-CEO of EcoVadis. “We’re very excited to work closely with buying organizations and suppliers in the country, and support them along their sustainable procurement journeys.”

EcoVadis works with 13,000 customers who are subscribed to the rating platform, using it for sustainable procurement, or both, across the Asia Pacific region to date, including some of the largest companies such as Bridgestone and Nippon Sheet Glass. The new office is located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. The expansion is timely considering Japan recently set a new national environmental plan on the heels of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals that enforces environmentally sound business practices. EcoVadis supports companies in meeting the priorities outlined in the plan, including responsible production and international leadership through strategic partnerships.

In addition to its new presence in Japan, EcoVadis is also expanding into Australia and New Zealand, and currently has offices in France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, Canada, Tunisia, Mauritius and Hong Kong.
