Ellenville Public Library & Museum in Ulster County, NY Appoints Kristin Fowler as Director

April 8, 2019

ELLENVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr 8, 2019--The Ellenville Public Library & Museum (EPL&M) announced today that Kristin Fowler was selected by the Board of Trustees as its new director, following the retirement of its long-time director, Pam Stocking.

According to Don Odom, board president, Fowler first joined EPL&M in February 2018 as their community relations specialist after serving as director of the Livingston Manor Free Library in nearby Sullivan County, NY.

“Working closely with our Board of Trustees, Kristin is committed to providing our library’s members with services of the highest quality, seeking cost-effective ways to expand and improve our catalog of library programs for Ellenville area residents,” says Odom. “Her goal in Ellenville, with one of the more active and vibrant library operations in Ulster County, is building on the legacy that Pam Stocking put in place during her 28 years as director.”

“I’m looking forward to meeting as many of our members as possible on their next visits to the library and adjacent Terwilliger House museum,” says Fowler. “This is a ‘great time to be in Ellenville’, as the local saying goes, with its renewed mission of rejuvenation, to work hand-in-hand with the village, town, school district and county officials in promoting the community’s many positive attributes for living, working, visiting and educating families right here in Ellenville.”

Before moving to NY’s Catskill Mountain region, Fowler was a senior researcher at Boston Consulting Group; a research analyst at Bain Capital; and, with a focus on the rare book and young adult departments, a reference librarian at the Boston Public Library. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Art History degree from Wheaton College, Norton, Massachusetts, and a Masters of Library and Information Science from Simmons College, Boston, Massachusetts.
