Zillion Appoints Dr. Reza Yavari as Medical Advisor
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb 20, 2019--Zillion, a leading health behavior modification company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Reza Yavari as the organization’s medical advisor.
Dr. Yavari is a Yale-trained endocrinologist and a leader in the field of lifestyle management aimed at metabolic disorders such as obesity, diabetes (DM) and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). He is the creator of the Yavari Indicator (YI) assessment tool, a non-invasive method for determining an individual’s likelihood of having type 2 diabetes or metabolic syndrome, using only their age, gender, height, weight, hip and waist measurements.
“The challenge with most traditional biometric screenings, such as the HbA1c test for diabetes, is that they rely on blood samples and are invasive, expensive and inconvenient,” said Dr. Yavari. “The YI assessment tool not only eliminates the need for blood test measurements, it immediately predicts diabetes and pre-diabetes as accurately as HbA1c. It creates a way of conducting health risk assessments that is viable and inclusive.”
To date, the YI assessment tool has been used to support risk stratification and condition management with health organizations, medium-sized organizations and large enterprises, including a Fortune 50 company.
“Zillion’s Restore Program is targeted specifically at the largest group of employees within an organization that drive up the cost of healthcare. This group includes employees who suffer with chronic conditions such as diabetes, pre-diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or unhealthy cholesterol levels,” said Brent Wilkinson, Zillion CEO. “Understanding this group and easily reaching them is the first step towards a real win-win -- helping employees become sustainably healthier and providing employers with a material way to improve their health care expense.”
Wilkinson continued, “At Zillion, we are eager to apply proven alternatives to today’s biometric screening options. The non-invasive YI assessment tool is a superior screening approach that lowers costs for employers, while giving employees an easier way to measure progress while reversing prevalent chronic health conditions. We are thrilled to have Dr. Yavari on board to assist Zillion with this advanced initiative.”
Perfected over the past 20 years, the YI assessment is an evidence-based tool that has been clinically validated, published as part of a digital coaching therapeutic developed by Dr. Yavari, and recognized as a winner of the prestigious international MIT-SOLVE healthcare competition in 2017. Dr. Yavari’s work, as founder and CEO of Beyond Care, has been featured in national media and press including his best-seller book, It Must Be My Metabolism!
