California Housing Finance Agency Welcomes New Director of Legislation Francesc Martí

October 26, 2018

SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct 26, 2018--The California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA) is pleased to welcome Francesc Martí as its new Director of Legislation following his appointment by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr.

Martí currently serves as Assistant Commissioner for Government Affairs at New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation & Development where he heads a division that negotiates legislation at the local, state and federal levels. During his tenure there, Martí worked with the New York State legislature to enact the nation’s largest property tax incentive program for multifamily development.

“Francesc’s experience in one of the world’s most complex housing markets will be very helpful to us,” said CalHFA Executive Director Tia Boatman Patterson. “We’re looking forward to his perspective on how we can move toward affordable housing solutions in California.”

Martí previously worked for the New York State Senate, where he led budget negotiations and played a critical part in expanding New York’s rent protection program for low income seniors. He also worked for Mayor Bloomberg’s Office of Management & Budget and began his career at the European Parliament.

“I am excited to join the team at CalHFA,” Martí said. “California is at the forefront in finding solutions to the nation’s affordable housing crisis, and I am eager to be part of that conversation in my new role.”

Martí holds a Master of Public Administration from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College.
