Parents of 2 Ozarks boat crash victims file lawsuit
CAMDENTON, Mo. (AP) — The parents of two suburban Kansas City victims of a Lake of the Ozarks boat crash have filed a lawsuit.
The Kansas City Star reports that the suit was filed in Camden County, Missouri, Circuit Court on behalf of the families of 23-year-old Joseph LeMark, of Overland Park, Kansas, and 21-year-old Hailey Hochandel, of Olathe, Kansas.
Missouri boy missing for 5 months found in attic crawl space
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A 6-year-old boy who was reported missing by his father in August has been found safe, hidden in an attic crawl space in the southwest Missouri home of his mother and her boyfriend, authorities said Wednesday.
Braedence Jones was found Tuesday in the crawl space with his mother, Aubrey Ferguson, at a home south of Camdenton in rural LaClede County, the Camden County Sheriff's Department said.
County moves poster after receiving formal complaint

Reward offered for information in attack on trucker
FORT HALL, Idaho (AP) — A trucker from Missouri who was beaten at an Idaho truck stop last month is still recovering from his injuries, and his employer has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of his attacker.
Amos Phillips of Camdenton, Missouri, was sleeping inside his cab at a Fort Hall, Idaho, truck stop on Sept. 2 when an unknown attacker pried open his locked door, demanded money and beat Phillips with rocks in his fists.
Man drowns when watercraft capsizes at Lake of the Ozarks
CAMDENTON, Mo. (AP) — The Missouri State Highway patrol says a 33-year-old man died after he was thrown from a personal watercraft at the Lake of the Ozarks.
The patrol says Tyrell Anderson of Jefferson City died Thursday afternoon. He was driving a 2006 Yamaha personal watercraft on the main channel of the lake when it capsized.
Authorities said he suffered an unknown medical condition while trying to get back on the watercraft.
2 women die, children injured in south Missouri crash
CAMDENTON, Mo. (AP) — The Missouri State Highway Patrol says two women were killed and three children were injured in a two-vehicle collision in southwest Missouri.
The accident occurred Thursday morning on Highway 5 in Camden County.
The report says a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Amber Metcalf, of Versailles, crossed the center line and hit a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Jessica Brazil of Camdenton.
Suspected arsonists sought in southwest Missouri county
CAMDENTON, Mo. (AP) — Authorities in a southwest Missouri county are looking for someone who apparently is setting arson fires made more dangerous by dry conditions.
KSPR reports three homes were the apparent targets of fires set Wednesday afternoon near Camdenton. The homes are near Missouri State Highway 5.
Shirley Ann Rowe, 88, of Gilman, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Monday (March 12, 2018) at her home in Gilman, after a sudden illness.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. Thursday until the 6 p.m. funeral service at the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman, with the Rev. John Franklin officiating. Private burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

Poaching case investigated in southwest Missouri
CAMDENTON, Mo. (AP) — Missouri conservation officials are asking the public for help locating those responsible for dumping five deer and one turkey carcass near Camdenton.
The Springfield News-Leader reports the best pieces of meat were cut off the animals before the bodies were abandoned in mid-November.

Kansas drowning victim found in the Lake of the Ozarks
CAMDENTON, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say kayakers have found a drowning victim in the Lake of the Ozarks.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victim as 50-year-old Amy Miller, of Prairie Village, Kansas. The patrol says the kayakers found her body floating Sunday morning in a cove around the 26-mile marker of the lake's main channel in Camden County.
No other details were provided in the patrol's online report, including whether Miller had been reported missing.
1 dead, 1 injured after Lake of the Ozarks boat explosion
CAMDENTON, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say one person was killed and another was seriously hurt when a boat exploded after refueling at the Lake of the Ozarks.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victim as 76-year-old Ronald Moore, of Nevada, Missouri. The patrol says the explosion happened around 12:15 p.m. Sunday at the lake's 31-mile marker in Camden County.
Missouri man accused of having pipe bomb in car after chase
CAMDENTON, Mo. (AP) — A central Missouri man is charged with a felony weapons count after a deputy reportedly found a pipe bomb in his vehicle after a chase stemming from a traffic stop.
Thirty-one-year-old Joshua Crook of Camdenton is charged with felony counts of possession of controlled substance, resisting arrest, and possession and transport of a weapon. He also faces misdemeanor counts of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
ROACH, Mo. (AP) — The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 14 children on a bus from Oklahoma suffered minor injuries when a school bus taking them to a church camp in overturned.
The accident was reported Monday afternoon on a highway between Macks Creek and Camdenton in western Camden County.
The bus from a church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was on its way to Windermere Baptist Conference Center at the Lake of the Ozarks. The patrol says the driver failed to negotiate a turn and the bus overturned.

The patrol says the body of 66-year-old Steven Fox, of Fenton, was found Friday evening in Kinchelow Hollow Cove.
The investigation is continuing but the patrol says investigators believe Fox drowned.
CAMDENTON, Mo. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the weekend death of a University of Iowa freshman who was found unresponsive in a lakeside resort motel in in central Missouri's Camden County.
The Camden County Sheriff's Office said Monday that 19-year-old Kamil Jackowski of Arlington Heights, Illinois, was found unconscious in the motel Sunday. He was later declared dead at a hospital, and an autopsy was planned.

Patrol: Missouri man killed when hit by unoccupied truck
ROACH, Mo. (AP) — Missouri authorities say a man was killed in central Missouri when an unoccupied pickup truck rolled across a road and hit him as he stood in a driveway.

Missouri man gets 19-year sentence in 2006 shooting death
CAMDENTON, Mo. (AP) — A central Missouri man has been ordered to spend 19 years in prison after admitting he killed a man in 2006 and abandoned the body.
David W. Smith was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to charges of voluntary manslaughter and abandonment of a corpse.
Smith admitted he fatally shot 27-year-old Shawn Spencer in April 2006 at Smith's house in Camdenton. Smith wasn't arrested until June of last year.

Missouri man charged in deaths of mother, daughter in fire
CAMDENTON, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri man has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of a mother and daughter whose bodies were found after a fire destroyed their trailer.
The Camden County Sheriff said 54-year-old Steven Ray Endsley was arrested early Saturday. He is charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action, burglary and arson in the Aug. 29 deaths of his neighbors, 27-year-old Danielle Smith and her mother, 61-year-old Teresa Jackson.
