Suber leads CS Bakersfield over Chicago St. 75-62
CHICAGO (AP) — James Suber recorded 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead Cal State Bakersfield to a 75-62 win over Chicago State on Thursday night.
Jarkel Joiner had 16 points for Cal State Bakersfield (16-9, 7-4 Western Athletic Conference). Rickey Holden added 14 points. Darius Williams had 12 points for the visiting team.
Travon Bell had 19 points for the Cougars (3-22, 0-10), who have now lost 14 straight games. Anthony Harris added 11 points. Cameron Bowles had 10 points.
Win III sparks UT Rio Grande Valley past Chicago St., 77-46
EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — Terry Winn III had 14 points to lead four players in double-figure scoring and the UT Rio Grande Valley defense held Chicago State to just 17 first-half points en route to a 77-46 Western Athletic Conference rout on Thursday night.
The Vaqueros bounced back from a tough, 63-61 loss to New Mexico State Saturday.
Lowell, Toolson lead Utah Valley past Chicago State 74-60
CHICAGO (AP) — Wyatt Lowell had 15 points with nine rebounds off the bench, Jake Toolson scored a game-high 18 points and Utah Valley defeated Chicago State 74-60 on Saturday.
Baylee Steele added 12 points and TJ Washington scored 10 for the Wolverines (15-7, 4-3 Western Athletic Conference).
Cameron Bowles and Anthony Harris scored 17 points apiece and Rob Shaw added 10 points for the Cougars (3-18, 0-6).
Seattle beats Chicago State for 10th straight time
CHICAGO (AP) — Anand Hundal finished with 17 points and eight rebounds and Seattle beat Chicago State for a 10th straight time, 75-47 on Thursday night.
Morgan Means had 16 points and five assists, while Myles Carter pitched in with 11 points and 10 rebounds for his Western Athletic Conference-leading ninth double-double of the season for the Redhawks (13-8, 1-5). Ian Burke had 12 points and four assists, while Terrell Brown tallied nine points, nine rebounds and four assists.
CSUB rallies late to beat Chicago State 86-73
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — Jarkel Joiner scored 22 points for Cal State Bakersfield and the Roadrunners closed on a 17-3 run to beat Chicago State 86-73 on Saturday night.
Chicago State led 70-69 with about three minutes left. Joiner scored five points and Justin Edler-Davis made two 3-pointers during the closing stretch.
CSU Bakersfield (13-6, 5-1 Western Athletic Conference) has won five of its last six games. Chicago State (3-16, 0-4) has lost eight straight.
Bell with 16 points leads Chicago St. past E. Illinois 80-72
CHICAGO (AP) — Travon Bell scored 16 points on five 3-pointers and Chicago State beat Eastern Illinois 80-72 on Saturday.
Rob Shaw added 14 points and a team-high 11 assists for the Cougars (2-8). Anthony Harris had 12 points and 11 rebounds, Delshon Strickland scored another 12 points and Cameron Bowles chipped in with 11.
Chicago State gets 1st win of season, 90-67 over East-West
CHICAGO (AP) — Anthony Harris scored 19 points, Rob Shaw added 18 points and 10 assists, and Chicago State beat USCAA-member East-West 90-67 for its first win of the season on Thursday night.
The game was close for the entire first half and then the Cougars (1-8) pulled away with a 22-4 run to lead 56-37 with 13:56 left in the second half. The Phantoms never recovered, getting the deficit only as close as 16.
Illinois State rallies late, tops Chicago State 75-71
NORMAL, Ill. (AP) — Keyshawn Evans and Phil Fayne scored key late baskets off turnovers as Illinois State finished on a 13-3 run to rally past Chicago State 75-71 Tuesday night.
Milik Yarbrough led the Redbirds (3-1) with 25 points on 10-for-19 shooting and seven assists, Fayne added 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting and blocked three shots. Josh Jefferson tossed in 13 points and Evans six.
Dixon leads UT Rio Grande Valley over Chicago State 83-75
EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — Nick Dixon scored 23 points and Texas-Rio Grande Valley beat Chicago State 83-75 on Saturday night.
UTRGV (15-15, 6-7 Western Athletic Conference) snapped a three-game skid. Chicago State (2-27, 0-13) remains winless in the conference.
Dixon was 5-of-12 shooting and made 12 of 13 free throws. Lew Stallworth added 14 points, and Javon Levi and Lesley Varner Jr. chipped in 10 points apiece for the Vaqueros. Terry Winn had a game-high 16 rebounds.
Means, Gittens score 17, Seattle edges Chicago State 67-64
SEATTLE (AP) — Morgan Means and Richaud Gittens scored 17 points apiece and Seattle edged Chicago State 67-64 on Thursday night, the 13th straight loss for the Cougars.
Matej Kavas added 14 points, including the last basket of the game with 17 seconds left, for the Redhawks (12-7, 1-1 Western Athletic Conference), which forced the Cougars (2-17, 0-2) into a tougher shot that missed as time ran out. Aaron Menzies had a career-high 19 rebounds and 9 points.
