Struggling Cavs sign G Cameron Payne to 10-day contract
CLEVELAND (AP) — The struggling Cavaliers signed guard Cameron Payne to a 10-day contract.
To make roster space, the Cavs waived swingman Patrick McCaw, who signed with the club as a free agent on Dec. 28. He played in three games with Cleveland.
Payne will give the Cavs a backup for rookie Collin Sexton and backcourt depth while Matthew Dellavedova deals with a sore foot. Payne averaged 5.7 points and 2.7 assists in 31 games — 12 starts — for Chicago before he was waived by the Bulls.
Grizzlies acquire Justin Holiday from Bulls
CHICAGO (AP) — The struggling Memphis Grizzlies have acquired guard Justin Holiday from the Chicago Bulls for guards MarShon Brooks and Wayne Selden Jr.
Memphis also sent second-round picks in 2019 and 2020 to Chicago in the deal Thursday. The Bulls waived guard Cameron Payne in another move.
Raptors’ Leonard, Bulls’ LaVine to sit out game
CHICAGO (AP) — Kawhi Leonard of the Toronto Raptors and Zach LaVine of the Chicago Bulls are being held out of Saturday night's matchup between the teams.
Leonard isn't injured. The Raptors don't want to overextend him early in the season, so he'll sit after logging 43 minutes Friday night at Boston. He has not played back-to-back games this season and is averaging 24.8 points and 8.4 rebounds.

Bulls exercise options on Portis, 4 other players
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bulls have exercised their fourth-year option on Bobby Portis after the forward was suspended for eight games for injuring teammate Nikola Mirotic during a fight at practice.
The Bulls also picked up third-year options on guards Kris Dunn and Denzel Valentine and fourth-year options on guards Jerian Grant and Cameron Payne. The moves were announced on Friday, meaning the players are under contract for the 2018-19 season.
Bulls guard Cameron Payne has foot surgery, out 3-4 months
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bulls say guard Cameron Payne had surgery on his broken right foot and is expected to be out three to four months.
Payne had surgery to repair the fifth metatarsal on Wednesday. The team says he will remain in a splint the next seven to 10 days and then spend six to eight weeks in a boot.
Payne was injured in a workout on July 18. Six weeks of rest in a boot was prescribed, but the team said recently a subsequent scan showed the bone did not heal "satisfactorily."
Bulls guard Cameron Payne to have surgery on broken foot
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bulls say guard Cameron Payne will have surgery next week for a broken right foot.
Payne fractured the fifth metatarsal during a workout July 18. The team says six weeks of rest in a boot was prescribed, but a subsequent scan and examination this week revealed the foot has not healed "satisfactorily." Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday.
Payne also broke his right foot during the 2015-16 season with Oklahoma City.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma City Thunder signed guard Norris Cole to help fill the void after trading backup point guard Cameron Payne to the Chicago Bulls.
The Thunder made the announcement Wednesday. Cole should challenge for Semaj Christon's No. 2 point guard spot.
The 28-year-old Cole won NBA titles with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013. He has career averages of 7.1 points and 2.8 assists. He averaged 10.6 points during the 2015-16 season for the New Orleans Pelicans.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press that the Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to sign guard Norris Cole for the remainder of the season.
The person spoke Tuesday on condition of anonymity because the deal had not yet been signed.
Cole won NBA titles with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013. He helps fill the backup point guard void that was created when the Thunder traded Cameron Payne to the Chicago Bulls.
Thunder acquire Gibson, McDermott in trade with Bulls
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma City Thunder got some help for Russell Westbrook by acquiring forwards Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott from Chicago just before the NBA trade deadline.
The Thunder announced the deal Thursday night.
The Bulls also sent a 2018 second-round pick to the Thunder. Oklahoma City sent Cameron Payne, Joffrey Lauvergne and Anthony Morrow to Chicago.
Oklahoma City general manager Sam Presti said he likes where his team is after the moves.

A Thunder spokesman confirmed the move in a text message.
