LYMAN, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire authorities investigating the carbon monoxide poisoning deaths of a man and woman say an alarm to detect the gas was found inside their home, but had no batteries.
State police responded to the home in Lyman on Tuesday. They found 71-year-old John Courtney and 63-year-old April Courtney dead, along with several cats and dogs.
The New Hampshire Medical Examiner's Office said the cause of death was accidental due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
Carbon monoxide poisoning suspected in deaths of man, woman
LYMAN, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire authorities suspect carbon monoxide poisoning caused the deaths of a man and a woman in a home.
State police were requested to respond to the home in Lyman on Tuesday for a welfare check. They found the man and woman dead, along with several cats and dogs.
State Fire Marshal Paul Parisi said the cause of the suspected carbon monoxide release is still under investigation. Autopsies were scheduled for Thursday.
Coroner: Carbon monoxide poisoning killed men in apartments
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina coroner says two men who died at a public housing complex had both been killed by carbon monoxide poisoning.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts told news outlets Monday the cause of death for 61-year-old Calvin Witherspoon Jr. and 30-year-old Derrick Roper. They were found dead Jan. 17 in their separate apartments at Allen Benedict Court in Columbia.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Grand Forks police say carbon monoxide poisoning is suspected of causing the death of a man who was sleeping in his pickup truck.
Authorities said Tuesday 36-year-old Bradley Beiswenger had no permanent address and was found dead in the enclosed cargo area of his truck last Friday in Grand Forks.

EXETER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say an elderly woman and her adult son whose bodies were found inside their southeastern Michigan home over the weekend may have died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
The Monroe County sheriff's office says 83-year-old Alice Kiebler and Mark Kiebler, who was in his 50s, were found dead Saturday at their home in Exeter Township, about 35 miles (56 kilometers) southwest of Detroit.

BELL GARDENS, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles County fire officials say eight people, including two children, have been hospitalized after they apparently were poisoned by carbon monoxide at a Bell Gardens home.
Police and fire officials were called to the home shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday. They say two children were hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Another child and five adults were in fair condition.

Report: Carbon monoxide fumes kill French tourists in Italy
ROME (AP) — An Italian news agency is reporting that two French tourists have died of carbon monoxide poisoning in northwest Italy.
The ANSA news agency said the 57-year-old tourists were found dead on Tuesday in a two-room house in Monterosso Grana, a small mountain town near Cuneo, in the Piedmont region that borders France.
It quoted rescue crew as saying one of the two wood-burning stoves in the house was lit when they arrived and carbon monoxide saturated the rooms.

Woman plans to sue Bend over sewer pipe
BEND, Ore. (AP) — A Bend woman claims repairs to a city sewer pipe by her home caused carbon monoxide poisoning.
The Bend Bulletin reports the city of Bend received a notice last week that Susan and Roger Dosier intend to sue and requesting that the city preserve documents related to an ongoing project to repair a major sewer pipe.
Carbon monoxide poisoning suspected in in St. Joseph death
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) — Authorities suspect carbon monoxide poisoning in the death of a man in a St. Joseph shed.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports that police say a generator was being used in the shed, where the man's body was found Sunday.
The name of the man wasn't immediately released. The investigation is ongoing.
Man, son die in vehicle left running in garage
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Police say a Kentucky father and son are dead and another child is in critical condition after the man left his vehicle running in a garage in an apparent attempt to keep warm on a cold morning.
Louisville Police Department spokeswoman Lt. Emily McKinley told news outlets the father left a vehicle running in a closed garage on Wednesday and it appears the family was overcome by carbon monoxide gas.

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) — Fire officials in Vermont say six people have been treated for mild carbon monoxide poisoning after a boiler malfunctioned in an apartment building.
The Brattleboro Fire Department responded around midnight to the apartment building where a tenant reported that a carbon monoxide detector in the basement was going off. Firefighters found elevated levels of CO in the building and all 16 tenants were evacuated.

Carbon monoxide at Baltimore fire academy hospitalizes 13
BALTIMORE (AP) — A carbon monoxide leak at Baltimore's Fire Academy has sent 11 recruits and two administrators to the hospital.
News outlets report 13 people started experiencing symptoms consistent with carbon monoxide poisoning while eating lunch Thursday. The recruits had been participating in an all-day class.

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. (AP) — A woman has died of apparent carbon monoxide poisoning in a northwestern Minneapolis suburb, and three police officers were treated for exposure to the fumes.
Police say a Maple Grove officer who responded to a Friday evening call about a person not breaking was "overcome by fumes" as he tried to help the unresponsive woman inside her town house.
Two other officers arrived and pulled the officer and the woman out of the building. The unidentified woman died at the scene.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) — Police in West Virginia have identified two people who died in a suspected carbon monoxide poisoning at a home near Martinsburg.
Media outlets report the bodies of a man and his adult daughter were found Saturday at their home in Baker Heights.
State Trooper D.W. Satterfield in Martinsburg identified them as 77-year-old Syrrant Lynch and 47-year-old Huverlyn Lynch.
