NEW YORK (AP) — When the last model walked down the Carolina Herrera runway in a floor-length, billowing gown that looked like a huge white shirt, it was a playful nod in two ways.
First, it was a take on the tradition of ending a fashion show with a bridal gown. And second, it was a nod by designer Wes Gordon to his predecessor and her famous love for a crisp white shirt.

NEW YORK (AP) — In the first show since creative director Wes Gordon took the reins on Carolina Herrera's line, he brought bright colors, patterns, bold prints and voluminous evening gowns to the runway at New York Fashion Week.
"In a gray, scary, uncertain world, Herrera should be that rainbow in your wardrobe," Gordon said after the show, staged amid paintings on the walls of the New York Historical Society.

NEW YORK (AP) — Julia Louis-Dreyfus is back at work on "Veep" and said it feels "fantastic."
The star of the HBO comedy series revealed last September that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. The news came soon after her sixth consecutive Emmy win for the role of Selina Meyer.
As work began recently on the show's seventh and final season, Louis-Dreyfus told The Associated Press: "I feel good. I feel strong. I've got energy and, yeah, back to my old tricks. It feels like I never left."

Herrera, who founded her label in 1981, announced the move in a statement Friday. The Venezuelan-born designer, 79, will present her final New York Fashion Week collection next week, and then will transition to a new role as global brand ambassador.

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — A nephew of fashion designer Carolina Herrera has been found dead inside a truck on a road near Venezuela's capital.
The public prosecutor's office said in a statement Friday that the body of 34-year-old businessmen Reinaldo Jose Herrera was found the night before near Caracas. Another businessman was found dead in the same place. The cause of the two men's death was unclear.

Suit: Oscar de la Renta poached Carolina Herrera designer
NEW YORK (AP) — Upscale fashion company Carolina Herrera is suing rival Oscar de la Renta and a star designer in a New York City breach-of-contract case.
Lawyers for Herrera asked a state Supreme Court judge in Manhattan on Tuesday to stop designer Laura Kim from working for its competitor. They also seek unspecified damages.
On Friday, a judge lifted a temporary order that had barred Kim from working for de la Renta.
