American Sofia Kenin wins first WTA title at Hobart
HOBART, Australia (AP) — American Sofia Kenin won her first WTA title at the Hobart International on Saturday after beating Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 6-4, 6-0.
Playing her first top-level singles final, the 20-year-old Kenin took the first set with a break before running away with the match in 71 minutes.
Kenin, ranked 56th, didn't drop a set for the tournament and beat top-seeded Caroline Garcia and former Hobart champion Alize Cornet in her run to the title.
American Sofia Kenin advances to Hobart International final
HOBART, Australia (AP) — American Sofia Kenin advanced to the Hobart International final with a 6-2, 6-4 win over sixth-seeded Alize Cornet on Friday.

LONDON (AP) — Two-time French Open semifinalist Timea Bacsinszky has pulled out of Wimbledon because of an injured lower right leg.
The All England Club said Saturday that Bacsinszky will be replaced in the field by Mariana Duque-Marino of Colombia, who lost in the final round of qualifying to 2014 Wimbledon runner-up Eugenie Bouchard.
Duque-Marino will face Alison Riske of the U.S. in the first round Tuesday. The winner of that match could face No. 6 seed Caroline Garcia in the second round.

Garcia secures WTA Finals spot after injured Konta withdraws
MOSCOW (AP) — The WTA says Johanna Konta has withdrawn from the Kremlin Cup next week, meaning Caroline Garcia has secured the eighth and last berth in the WTA Finals.
Konta still isn't ready to play after a left foot injury forced her out of the Hong Kong Open this month.
Konta was ranked a career-high fourth in July after reaching the Wimbledon semifinals. But the British player lost her first match at her last five tournaments, sending her to 10th.
