OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Draymond Green's remarkable postseason has pushed beyond basketball, featuring Charles Barkley declaring he'd like to punch the emotional Golden State forward, a death threat from a frustrated fan who Green encouraged to get the help he needs, and an attempt by the All-Star to listen in on the Pelicans huddle.
Oh, and it just so happens Green also became the first Warriors player to ever average a triple-double in a postseason series.
After having been informed that there are thousands of new medals out there this year, the Committee to Dream Up New Medals figured it was time to step up its game.
After all, our medals are not just decorative. Ours are awards that recognize those of us who have taken our Puro San Anto game to a higher level.
So here is what we’ve come up with, in no particular order.
Wolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns says his ‘Amish-like’ life makes him oblivious to public criticism
Karl-Anthony Towns first exposure to the NBAs playoff stage has not drawn rave reviews, not that hes paying any heed.
In consecutive losses to Houston to open the first-round series, Towns has shot 5-for-18 and averaged 6.5 points per game. It is only the third time in his three-year career that hes gone consecutive games without reaching 10 points; he had a three-game stretch early in his rookie year, then two straight eight-point games later in his first season.
HOUSTON – In case you’ve forgotten these past 14 years, the NBA playoffs are all about adjusting from one game to the next.
After Game 1 of a first-round playoff series against Houston, the question is how much more the Timberwolves will feature All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns than they did Sunday, which wasn’t much.
Sunday night, Charles Barkley called the Timberwolves one of the “dumbest” teams he’s ever seen.
This is good news for our Woofies. This means they have escaped his favorite insult.
Sir Charles did not call them “trrbull.”
Trrbull — spelled in some regions of America as “terrible” — is Barkley’s linguistic coup de grace. In criticizing the Wolves, he dumbed down his vocabulary and gave voice to every grumble issued by every disgruntled Wolves fan this season.
Who’s responsible for Timberwolves not getting Karl-Anthony Towns more shots vs. Rockets?
In the aftermath of the Wolves 104-101 loss to the Rockets on Sunday, there were a lot of big opinions.
You could trash the Wolves for letting a winnable game slip away against a Rockets team that did not shoot up to its standards. You could be encouraged by the Wolves fight and defensive strategy in a competitive game. You could loudly scream that there are NO MORAL VICTORIES.
Column: NBA playoffs are wide open _ for once
Hey, here's something we haven't heard before.
The NBA playoffs are wide open.
At perhaps no other time in the league's history have so many teams gone into the postseason with a real shot at hoisting the trophy at the end of this two-month grind.
From the top seeds in Houston and Toronto, to the old stalwarts in Golden State and Cleveland, to the brash up-and-comers in Philadelphia and Minnesota, there are potential storylines galore and no real way to predict how it all may shake out.

HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) — Charles Barkley has donated $250,000 toward educating Mississippi and Alabama high school students about African-American history.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Do not be afraid. As Charles Barkley would say, don’t be scurred.
If you are a 30-minute-a-year fan, worse if you a 30-minute-a-year expert, don’t be afraid to actually watch women’s basketball. You will not go blind. You will not contract incurable diseases.
You certainly won’t continue those once-a-year screeds that UConn is bad for basketball.
And if you are an opponent of the Huskies? Here’s another suggestion. Do not be afraid. Do not play scared.
Retired NBA star and "Inside the NBA" commentator Charles Barkley hosted "Saturday Night Live" this week in an awkward and politically charged episode.
"I'm hosting SNL for the fourth time, for no reason," Barkley joked in his monologue, though it came from the kernel of truth that he was not on the show to promote anything as actors usually do.

Charles Barkley and hockey fans across the country have tuned in to watch the Stanley Cup Final between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators, no matter the score — and the score hasn't always been close.
Barkley said the NHL playoffs were more entertaining than the NBA's, and ratings are up considerably from a year ago when the Penguins beat the San Jose Sharks in six games.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Somewhere between the catfish lobbing , A-list national anthem singers, Carrie Underwood's forgetfulness , Charles Barkley's surprise cameo and P.K. Subban's breath, there's been another notable development during the Stanley Cup Final:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Charles Barkley has not hidden the fact that the TV analyst is far more excited about the Stanley Cup playoffs than the NBA playoffs.
Thanks to a night off in the NBA Finals , Barkley took up NHL commissioner Gary Bettman on his invitation to come watch the Stanley Cup Final in person last night.
“There’s nothing more nerve-wracking than Stanley Cup overtime hockey,” Barkley said. “It’s the craziest thing you’re ever going to see, so that’s one reason I just love the sport.”

Zach Herbst’s My GA Online poised to change the game for football coaches everywhere
Since the Bill James Baseball Abstract burst onto the scene in 1977, the world of sports has advanced steadily into the Information Age, despite a kind of veteran-driven inertia.
Charles Barkley's 2015 Inside the NBA on TNT rant (in which he alleged, "analytics is crap," called Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey, "one of those idiots," and went on to question his romantic success in high school) notwithstanding, conventional wisdom has nearly caught up to reality.
One of the coolest things about Spurs fever is Spurs fashion.
Some might think it’s all about NBA basketball, but those of us who have been cheering for the home team since the days of the Fiesta colors know better: We love suiting up in all things Spurs.
Of course, the gear comes out of the T-shirt drawer year round, but it’s a must during the road to the playoffs.
If you're not a hockey fan — and we know there are a LOT of you out there — it might be a good time to reconsider.
The NHL playoffs are the greatest show in sports at the moment.
You certainly won't miss anything by flipping away from the NBA.
While the hoops postseason is blighted by one rout after another, the NHL is putting on a stellar show that should be drawing much higher ratings.
Kevin Garnett takes unfiltered approach on TV in Area 21
Sitting on a mahogany throne, wearing a casual red sweater, tight grey jeans and sneakers, Kevin Garnett turned to the rapper and actor Ludacris in a lounge chair beside him and asked the obvious question.
"Let's say you can dunk and you had all these league skills, how would you use the afro on offense and defense to your advantage?" Garnett said.
