QUEBEC CITY (AP) — Brendan Gallagher had a goal and an assist to help the Montreal Canadiens beat the Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals 5-2 on Thursday night at the Videotron Centre.
Michael Chaput, Jacob de la Rose, Artturi Lehkonen and Rinat Valiev also scored for Montreal, and Charlie Lindgren stopped 11 of 13 shots. The Canadiens won for the first time in three exhibition games,
MONTREAL (AP) — Antti Niemi and Charlie Lindgren are giving the Montreal Canadiens solid goaltending with starter Carey Price out with a concussion.
Niemi made 27 saves, three on short-handed breakaways in the first period, in Montreal's 3-1 victory over the New York Islanders on Wednesday night. That followed AHL call-up Charlie Lindgren's 33-save effort in a 1-0 shootout loss to Philadelphia on Monday night.
Canadiens’ Price plans to return Saturday against Buffalo
MONTREAL (AP) — Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price expects to return Saturday night against the visiting Buffalo Sabres.
Price said Friday he's ready to play after missing 10 games with a lower-body injury.
"It's just about getting timing back and getting into the groove again," Price said.
Werenski scores in OT, Blue Jackets beat Canadiens 2-1
MONTREAL (AP) — Sergei Bobrovsky made one big save without his stick, then turned away Montreal captain Max Pacioretty three times in a row. As far as Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella is concerned, that's why Columbus got two points on Tuesday night.
Bobrovsky made 28 saves, Zach Werenski scored 1:09 into overtime and the Blue Jackets beat the Canadiens 2-1.
Max Pacioretty scores in overtime, Canadiens edge Sabres 2-1
MONTREAL (AP) — Max Pacioretty and the Montreal Canadiens are picking up speed after a slow start.
Pacioretty scored at 3:08 of overtime to give Montreal a 2-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night. Pacioretty broke in alone and beat Chad Johnson with a backhand shot.
Andrew Shaw also scored for Montreal, and Charlie Lindgren made 34 saves to improve to 4-1-0. The Canadiens have won four of five to improve to 8-9-1.

MONTREAL (AP) — Everything is going in the net for Jason Zucker lately.
Zucker scored three goals in the third period and Devan Dubnyk made 41 saves for a shutout as the Minnesota Wild beat the Montreal Canadiens 3-0 to end their three-game losing streak Thursday night.
It was the second multi-goal game in two nights for Zucker, who scored twice in a 4-2 loss at Toronto on Wednesday. This time, he had one short-handed, one at even strength and one into an empty net.

Lindgren leads Canadiens to 2-0 victory over Blackhawks
CHICAGO (AP) — Charlie Lindgren kept the Montreal Canadiens in the game until they finally solved Corey Crawford.
Not bad for a 23-year-old goaltender making his first appearance of the season.
Lindgren had 38 saves in his first career shutout, helping the Canadiens beat Crawford and the Chicago Blackhawks 2-0 on Sunday night.

MONTREAL (AP) — Paul Byron scored twice and the Montreal Canadiens beat the Florida Panthers 3-1 on Friday night after losing their first six preseason games.
Andrew Shaw also scored, and Charlie Lindgren made 22 saves in his return from a lower-body injury.
Evgenii Dadonov scored for Florida, and Roberto Luongo stopped 20 shots.
Byron opened the scoring in the first period, and gave the Canadiens a 2-1 lead with a short-handed goal midway through the second. Shaw scored early in the third.
