Shaw’s 2-run single lifts Giants over last-place Padres, 5-4
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Hunter Pence isn't slowing down even though his seven-year run with the San Francisco Giants — which includes two World Series titles — is coming to an end.
The 35-year-old Pence homered, doubled and drove in three runs, and rookie Chris Shaw hit a go-ahead, two-run single in the eighth inning as the Giants rallied to beat San Diego 5-4 on Tuesday night, assuring that the rebuilding Padres will finish last in the NL West.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — The San Francisco Giants' rookies got the better of the San Diego Padres' youngsters in a matchup of NL West teams playing out the season.
While veterans Brandon Crawford and Evan Longoria homered off Bryan Mitchell in the Giants' 4-2 win Monday, three rookies had nice nights. Left-hander Andrew Suarez pitched into the eighth inning, Chris Shaw had his first three-hit game and Aramis Garcia added an RBI single.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Chris Shaw is still looking for his first big league hit. However, he already has a game-deciding RBI to savor in his 24-hour-old MLB career.
Shaw and fellow Giants debutante Aramis Garcia drove in the game's first two runs, and rookie left-hander Andrew Suarez outdueled Zack Wheeler as San Francisco beat the New York Mets 7-0 on Friday night.
