Coyotes’ Dvorak sidelined indefinitely by torn pectoral
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona Coyotes center Christian Dvorak is sidelined indefinitely after having surgery Friday to repair a torn pectoral muscle.
Dvorak has injured last week during a rehab skate for an unrelated injury.
"Christian was making good progress when he injured his pectoral muscle during practice," general manager John Chayka said. "It's unfortunate and unlucky, but the surgery went well today and we expect him to make a full recovery."
Coyotes sign Dvorak to 6-year contract extension
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Coyotes have signed center Christian Dvorak to a six-year contract extension averaging $4.45 million per year.
The deal, announced Thursday, will keep Dvorak in Arizona through 2024-25.
The 22-year-old Dvorak was Arizona's third-leading goal scorer with 15 last season and fifth in points with 37. He has 30 goals and 40 assists in 156 career games with the Coyotes.
Coyotes snap losing streak to Blues with 5-2 win
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Christian Dvorak had no idea the two goals he scored Saturday night helped the Arizona Coyotes end a long run of futility against the St. Louis Blues.
"Wow, we lost 12 in a row to them?" Dvorak said. "That makes this even better."

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — This time, the Arizona Coyotes stayed calm at the end of a close game.
Clayton Keller scored 4:33 into overtime, and the Coyotes rallied to beat the Washington Capitals 3-2 on Friday night.
Arizona had lost seven in a row and 10 of 11. Christian Fischer tied the game with 1:01 to go in regulation, and Christian Dvorak also scored for the Coyotes.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Clayton Keller scored 4:33 into overtime, and the Arizona Coyotes rallied to beat the Washington Capitals 3-2 on Friday night.
Arizona had lost seven in a row and 10 of 11. Christian Fischer tied the game with his ninth goal of the season with 1:01 to go in regulation, and Christian Dvorak also scored for the Coyotes.
First-place Washington had won four in a row. T.J. Oshie and Evgeny Kuznetsov scored for the Capitals, and Philipp Grubauer made 24 saves.
Backes scores 2 goals as Bruins beat Coyotes 6-1
BOSTON (AP) — David Backes is on the board with the Boston Bruins — twice.
Backes scored his first two goals of the season, helping the Bruins beat the Arizona Coyotes 6-1 on Thursday night.
It was Backes' fourth game back after he missed 12 straight following surgery to remove part of his colon. The veteran forward scored his first goal with Boston on a tip-in 13:54 into the second and then added another goal with 54 seconds left in the period.
Fischer scores in overtime, Coyotes beat Kings 3-2
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Christian Fischer broke out of scoring slump for the resurgent Arizona Coyotes.
Fischer scored on a rebound 2:43 into overtime to give the Arizona Coyotes a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Friday night.
"I've been down on myself the last three of four games because I'm not scoring," Fischer said. "I've had all the chances in the world but couldn't put them home."
Pouliot scores twice, Sabres beat Coyotes 5-4
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Buffalo Sabres had what appeared to be a comfortable lead, up 5-1 headed into the game's final 10 minutes.
Then Arizona scored a goal to turn up the pressure. Another tightened it even more. By the time the Coyotes scored with under a minute left, the Sabres were just hanging on.
Benoit Pouliot had two goals and an assist, and Buffalo held off Arizona's furious late charge to beat the Coyotes 5-4 on Thursday night.

Alex Goligoski scored late in overtime after the Coyotes blew a two-goal lead in the final minute of regulation during a 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday night.
Goligoski scored with 14.4 seconds left on the clock in OT and Arizona (1-10-1) avoided setting an NHL record for most consecutive losses to start a season.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Christian Dvorak and the Arizona Coyotes remembered last week's loss to the Capitals in Washington.
"It's tough coming back from a first period like that," Dvorak said after scoring a pair of unassisted goals in a 6-3 victory over the Capitals on Friday night. "We were able to jump on them in the first period back here, so that was nice."

Dvorak had two goals and an assist and Mike Smith made 36 saves for his 32nd career shutout as the surging Arizona Coyotes beat the Calgary Flames 5-0 on Monday night.
Dvorak's third multi-point effort in the last five games gave the rookie seven points (five goals and two assists) over that span. He had just 13 points in the first 45 games.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Montreal's long scoring drought ended with a five-goal outburst Thursday night, and that was just enough for the Canadiens to end a four-game losing streak.
Alex Galchenyuk scored 2:13 into overtime to give the Canadiens a 5-4 victory against the Arizona Coyotes. Max Pacioretty had two goals and two assists, one on the winning play.
Kane, Blackhawks beat Coyotes 4-3 to snap 3-game skid

Duclair, Domingue lead Coyotes over Predators in shootout
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Radim Vrbata has a move he likes to use in shootouts, and it worked again for a goal that helped the Arizona Coyotes beat the Nashville Predators 3-2 on Thursday night.
The 35-year-old forward also tied Frans Nielsen of the Detroit Red Wings for the most shootout goals in NHL history with 42.
"With this move, I think if you do it right, you can freeze the goalie where he has to respect the shot and then it's effective," Vrbata said.
