JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Members of the Alaska Alcohol Beverage Control Board have been told that their January vote forbidding distilleries from serving alcoholic mixed drinks is invalid.
The vote has been deemed invalid due to a mistake made by a board member, the Juneau Empire reported Tuesday. That means the state's distilleries can continue serving cocktails through at least the first half of this summer.
Cocktails by Design, an event series sponsored by the Goldstein Museum of Design, brought the party to the Weavers Guild of Minnesota. For its spring event, guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and craft cocktails by Eat Street Social while they talked to the fiber artists and designers of the guild about weaving, spinning and dyeing. Cocktails by Design events are held in spring, summer and fall in the studios of local artisans. Proceeds from the events support the mission of the Goldstein, to improve the quality of life through design.

Alcohol board approves ban on distilleries serving cocktails

The board's decision came Tuesday at the end of a daylong meeting, the Juneau Empire reported .

Embattled New Orleans conference sold; to be nonprofit event
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A New Orleans bar and spirits conference whose founders were criticized for racial insensitivity is being sold.
News media report that two New Orleans business owners recently signed a letter of intent to buy Tales of the Cocktail and say they plan to turn the conference into a nonprofit event to benefit the city and industry.
