Patriots sign offensive lineman Matt Tobin to 53-man roster
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The Patriots have signed offensive lineman Matt Tobin to the 53-man roster.
Tobin practiced with the team on Wednesday. He takes the place of Brian Schwenke, who was placed on injured reserve. The move comes a day after the Patriots signed linebacker Albert McClellan and defensive back Obi Melifonwu and released offensive lineman Cole Croston and defensive lineman Geneo Grissom.
Patriots’ Josh Gordon inactive against Lions, delaying debut
DETROIT (AP) — New England wide receiver Josh Gordon is inactive against the Detroit Lions on Sunday night, delaying his debut with the Patriots.
Gordon was listed as questionable with a hamstring injury. He was limited in practice after being acquired from the Cleveland Browns.
New England safety Patrick Chung and defensive end Trey Flowers are inactive because of concussions.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The Patriots will be without running backs Rex Burkhead and Mike Gillislee when they host the Titans in the divisional round Saturday night.
Both Burkhead and Gillislee are out with knee injuries. With them out, the primary rushing duties will fall to Dion Lewis and James White.
Patriots’ Hogan, Slater active against Dolphins
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — New England Patriots receivers Chris Hogan and Matthew Slater are active for Monday night's game against the Miami Dolphins.
Hogan has been sidelined since Game 8 because of a shoulder injury. Slater has been sidelined since Game 5 because of a hamstring injury.
Dolphins cornerback Cordrea Tankersley is inactive because of ankle and shoulder injuries.
Newly acquired TE Martellus Bennett active for New England
DENVER (AP) — Newly acquired tight end Martellus Bennett is active for the New England Patriots' game at Denver on Sunday night despite a shoulder injury that led to his release from Green Bay.
The Patriots claimed Bennett on Thursday after he was waived by the Packers. The team cited a "failure to disclose a physical condition" as the reason for the move. Bennett disputed that notion.
Patriots CB Gilmore out with concussion vs. Falcons
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The Patriots will be without starting cornerback Stephon Gilmore for the second straight week when New England hosts Atlanta on Sunday night.
Gilmore is out with a concussion and ankle injury. Joining him on the inactive list for the Patriots are linebacker Harvey Langi (back), cornerback Eric Rowe (groin), defensive lineman Geneo Grissom, tackle Cam Fleming, offensive lineman Cole Croston and linebacker Elandon Roberts.
Gronkowski inactive for Patriots primetime matchup vs. Bucs
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — New England star tight end Rob Gronkowski is inactive for Thursday night's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a thigh injury.
The Super Bowl champions added Gronkowski to the injury report after practice Wednesday, listing him as questionable. He's second on the team this season with 20 receptions for 318 yards and two touchdowns.
Patriots’ Slater inactive for opener against Chiefs

Patriots have undrafted rookies for 14th straight year
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — When it comes to undrafted players, the New England Patriots are an equal opportunity employer.
This is the 14th consecutive year, tied for the third-longest such streak in the NFL, they have opened the season with undrafted rookies on the roster. Tight end Jacob Hollister, tackle Cole Croston, linebacker Harvey Langi and defensive tackle Adam Butler all made the 53.
Of course, there's a caveat, delivered by none other than coach Bill Belichick.
