DETROIT (AP) — Kameron Hankerson poured in 36 points with seven 3-pointers, both career highs, and No. 7 seed Green Bay defeated tenth-seeded Detroit Mercy 93-81 on the opening day of the Horizon League Tournament on Friday.
Green Bay (13-19), which has scored 90 points or better in its last three games, advances to meet second-seeded Wright State (22-9) in Saturday's quarterfinal round.
Cleveland St holds off Detroit 75-72 on Kenic’s career night
CLEVELAND (AP) — Stefan Kenic scored a career-high 19 points, Anthony Wright added 15 with 12 rebounds, and Cleveland State held off Detroit Mercy 75-72 on Wednesday night.
Bobby Word scored 15 points and Kenny Carpenter added 11 for the Vikings (8-20, 5-10 Horizon League), who made 11 3-pointers and shot 49 percent from the field.
Chatman scores 21 in Detroit Mercy’s 74-60 victory
DETROIT (AP) — Kameron Chatman had 21 points with eight rebounds to lead all five Detroit Mercy starters in double-figure scoring in a 74-60 victory over IUPUI on Friday night.
Chatman, who had four assists and three steals, scored 12 points in the first half when Detroit took a 38-28 lead after shooting 52 percent and leading by as many at 18.
ETSU beats Detroit Mercy 81-73
DETROIT (AP) — Desonta Bradford scored 21 points on Tuesday night and East Tennessee State led for the final 12 minutes in an 81-73 win over Detroit Mercy.
Jalan McCloud added 14 points for the Buccaneers (7-4), who bounced back from their first loss in the last six.
ETSU trailed 39-34 at the break but took the lead for good at 53-50 on a Jason Williams 3-pointer and pulled away with 10 straight to lead 67-55 on McCloud's layup with seven minutes to go.
Faulkners’ 29 leads Northern Kentucky over Detroit 101-87
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) — Mason Faulkner scored a career-high 29 points, Drew McDonald scored 21 and Northern Kentucky went 35 of 42 from the foul line to beat Detroit 101-87 on Sunday to snap a three-game skid.
Lavone Holland II scored 17 points with seven assists, Carson Williams added 13 points with 10 rebounds, and the Norse (13-8, 4-4 Horizon) won the rebound battled 38-26 and shot 58.8 percent from the floor.
