CHICAGO (AP) — Corey Crawford is skating again. The Stanley Cup-winning goaltender hasn't been cleared for practice just yet, but he thinks he is close.

While Crawford delivered a positive update Friday on his recovery from a concussion that sidelined him for most of last season, defensemen Connor Murphy, Brent Seabrook and Gustav Forsling missed the start of training camp due to injuries.

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville played 12-plus seasons in the NHL as a steady defenseman. The outlook for his team's blue line corps heading into the 2017-18 season is anything but stable.

CHICAGO (AP) — The Arizona Coyotes acquired Niklas Hjalmarsson in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday, adding a dependable defenseman during a time of turmoil for the franchise.
The 30-year-old Hjalmarsson had spent his entire 10-year career with Chicago, helping the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cup titles. The Swede had five goals, 13 assists and a team-high 181 blocked shots in 73 games last season.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson had a goal and an assist during Arizona's three-goal third period, Louis Domingue stopped 36 shots and the Coyotes damaged Tampa Bay's playoff hopes with a 5-3 victory Tuesday night.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Coyotes have signed defenseman Connor Murphy to a six-year contract.
Terms of the deal announced on Thursday were not released.
The 23-year-old Murphy had six goals and 11 assists in 78 games with the Coyotes last season. He has 11 goals and 21 assists in 181 career games after being drafted with the 20th overall pick of the 2011 NHL draft.
