LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A federal prosecutor is asking a judge to reconsider her ruling allowing indicted former Arkansas state Sen. Gilbert Baker a more than two-day pass from a substance-abuse treatment center in Russellville to attend his son's wedding and rehearsal dinner in Conway.

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — Ty Dalton had a season-high 21 points plus 10 rebounds as Houston Baptist narrowly defeated Central Arkansas 75-71 on Wednesday night.
Dalton made 9 of 12 shots.

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — Marlain Veal had 21 points as Southeastern Louisiana topped Central Arkansas 75-67 on Saturday. Moses Greenwood added 20 points for the Lions.
Veal made 11 of 12 free throws. He added seven assists. Greenwood had 11 rebounds for the Lions. He also had eight turnovers.
Parker Edwards had 16 points for Southeastern Louisiana (11-13, 7-4 Southland Conference), which earned its fifth consecutive road victory. Maxwell Starwood added seven rebounds.
Lane powers Northwestern State past Central Arkansas
CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — Ishmael Lane had 22 points, 13 rebounds and two big free throws and Northwestern State held off Central Arkansas 80-75 on Saturday night.
Malik Metoyer made two free throws to give Northwestern State a 78-75 lead with 19 seconds to go. Although trailing by three, Central Arkansas got to the line twice in the next 10 seconds of play but missed all four free throws. Lane made two free throws with six seconds left to wrap up the win.
Koval with 22 points, Cent. Arkansas edges New Orleans 76-71
CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — Hayden Koval matched his career high scoring 22 points on four 3-pointers and Central Arkansas held on to edge New Orleans 76-71 on Wednesday night.
Thatch Unruh added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Bears (10-10, 5-2 Southland Conference), who are on a four-game win streak. DeAndre Jones had 13 points and Eddy Kayouloud 10 points and six rebounds.

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) _ Home BancShares Inc. (HOMB) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter profit of $71 million.
The Conway, Arkansas-based bank said it had earnings of 41 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for costs related to mergers and acquisitions, came to 44 cents per share.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 45 cents per share.
Unruh helps Central Arkansas hold off Lamar 75-68
CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — Thatch Unruh hit four 3-pointers and scored 14 points and Central Arkansas shot 52 percent from beyond the arc in a 75-68 victory over Lamar on Saturday.
Unruh sank 4 of 8 from distance and added four assists for the Bears (7-10, 2-2 Southland Conference). Reserve Matthew Mondesir contributed 13 points, matching his career high, and added four rebounds and four assists. DeAndre Jones and Hayden Koval finishd with 10 points apiece.

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — An Arkansas sheriff has fired a deputy who shot a small dog in a residential neighborhood.
Faulkner County Sheriff Tim Ryals says in a Facebook post that he found no evidence the deputy violated a law or policy when he shot the Chihuahua on Friday near Conway. But the sheriff says the deputy "fell short" of serving and protecting residents.
Ryals says a report on the shooting will be given to prosecutors for review.

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — A sheriff's office in central Arkansas has fired a deputy who was captured on video shooting and wounding a small dog while on duty.
Faulkner County Sheriff Tim Ryals said on the office's Facebook page Saturday that Deputy Keenan Wallace was "relieved of his duties" one day after the incident in Conway, about 25 miles north of Little Rock.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that federal Judge Brian Miller ruled Wednesday that the Conway School District can't be compelled under the Americans with Disabilities Act to allow the dog.

Pope County deputy fatally shoots man after traffic stop
MORRILTON, Ark. (AP) — Authorities are investigating after a Pope County deputy fatally shot a man after a police chase on Interstate 40 in Arkansas.
Arkansas State Police say the deputy was trying to make a traffic stop Tuesday night, but the man continued driving east on I-40 into Conway County. State police say that after the man pulled over, he stepped out of his vehicle armed with a knife.

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — DeAndre Jones scored 23 points, dished seven assists and grabbed seven boards as Central Arkansas knocked off Little Rock 78-65 in the first of two Governor's I-40 Showdown battles Wednesday night.
The year-long competition pits the two schools against each other in 11 sports. The basketball win was worth four points to the Bears. Counting fall sports competition, Central Arkansas holds an 18.5-3.5 lead in the first year of the competition.

Hoy hit Isaiah Howard in stride for a 77-yard touchdown pass to close out the first quarter with a 21-10 lead. He nailed Myles Wanza on a 25-yard scoring strike early in the second quarter and hit Mason Sikes from 40 yards out for his final touchdown toss with 1:27 remaining in the first half, to go ahead 35-16 at the break.

Rapper Yella Beezy released from hospital after shooting
DALLAS (AP) — Management for rapper Yella Beezy says he's out of the hospital after being shot three times on a highway in the Dallas area.
The Dallas rapper was released from the hospital this week.
Police say the rapper, whose legal name is Deandre Conway, was driving on the Sam Rayburn Tollway in Lewisville early on Oct. 14 when someone in a vehicle pulled up next to him and opened fire.
4 Arkansas cities express interest for USDA offices
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Four Arkansas cities are among more than 135 nationwide vying for two U.S. Department of Agriculture branch offices that are moving away from Washington, D.C.
The USDA's Economic Research Service and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture together employ about 700 workers. The offices are leaving Washington and at least 136 cities — including Conway, Jonesboro, Little Rock and North Little Rock — have expressed an interest in landing them.

University of Arkansas institute receives $100 million gift
CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — The University of Arkansas has received a $100 million gift from a trust established by the late Arkansas Gov. Winthrop Rockefeller.
The school said Friday that the endowment will continue funding the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute, which the university says focuses on civic, cultural, research and educational programs and activities.
Arkansas governor holding town halls around state
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas' governor is holding a series of public town halls around the state to talk about his proposals for next year's legislative session, including a plan to reorganize state agencies and an effort to cut taxes.
Hutchinson's office on Wednesday said the town halls would begin with an event Monday at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. Hutchinson also plans town halls later this month in Jonesboro, Hot Springs, Fort Smith and northwest Arkansas.
