Bayern veteran Franck Ribery injured in training game
MUNICH (AP) — Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has been ruled out indefinitely after picking up a thigh injury in an internal training game.
The Bavarian club says Ribery tore muscle fiber in his right thigh during Wednesday evening's training session at the team's winter camp in Doha, Qatar. The team does not say how long the 35-year-old Frenchman will be out.
Bayern is already without Arjen Robben (thigh injury) and Corentin Tolisso (cruciate ligament).
Aouar and Pepe the latest young talents to emerge in France
PARIS (AP) — The French league has long had a reputation for producing some of the soccer stars of tomorrow. They learn their trade in flourishing French academies before rising to prominence in bigger European leagues.
And two more are thriving this season — Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar and Lille striker Nicolas Pepe.
Both scored for their clubs on Sunday to further cement their burgeoning reputations.

BERLIN (AP) — Corentin Tolisso scored with a snap shot before injuring his knee in Bayern Munich's 3-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
The France midfielder equalized for Bayern after Wendell put the visitors ahead with a retaken penalty. But Tolisso had to go off before the break after colliding with Kevin Volland.
Tolisso immediately clutched his right knee as he fell down, and needed help leaving the field as he made way for James Rodriguez.

Edinson Cavani is not in Uruguay's starting lineup for the World Cup quarterfinal against France in Nizhny Novgorod.
The striker, who scored two goals and then injured his left calf in the round of 16 win over Portugal last Saturday, hasn't fully recovered and is replaced by Cristhian Stuani.
That's the only change made by Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez from the 2-1 victory over Portugal.

MUNICH (AP) — Bayern Munich signed French midfielder Corentin Tolisso for a Bundesliga-record of at least 41.5 million euros ($46.8 million) from Lyon on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old Tolisso signed a five-year deal, Bayern said, while Lyon announced the transfer fee and said that add-ons could see it increase by another 6 million euros ($6.8 million).
"I had a wonderful time at Lyon, and I'm very thankful for that. Now I'm really pleased to be at one of the best clubs in Europe," Tolisso said.

Lyon failed to take advantage of having an extra man for nearly the whole game after Algerian defender Ramy Bensebaini was sent off in the fifth minute. The resulting spot kick, taken by Lyon top scorer Alexandre Lacazette, was well saved by goalkeeper Benoit Costil.

Lyon's players lost their heads at the end with midfielders Rachid Ghezzal and Corentin Tolisso sent off. Tolisso's two-footed challenge on midfielder Fabien Lemoine almost sparked a mass brawl.
Payet makes successful return as Marseille beats Lyon 2-1
PARIS (AP) — Returning to his former club after a much debated transfer, France playmaker Dimitri Payet came off the bench as Marseille beat Lyon 2-1 to reach the last 16 of the French Cup on Tuesday.
At a noisy Stade Velodrome, Payet got a rousing reception after coming on early in extra time, but made a limited impact as defenders got Marseille's goals.
Veteran center back Rod Fanni put Marseille ahead in the 24th minute after nodding in a cross from 19-year-old midfielder Maxime Lopez.
Higuain scores, misses easy chance as Juve held 1-1 by Lyon
TURIN, Italy (AP) — Gonzalo Higuain showed his best and worst sides as Juventus was held to a 1-1 draw against Lyon on Wednesday, with the Italian hosts missing the chance to ensure qualification for the Champions League knockout stage with two matches to spare.
Higuain netted a penalty in the 13th minute but missed an open goal shortly before halftime. Juventus looked on course for the win but Corentin Tolisso leveled six minutes from time.
Lyon striker Lacazette scores 2 to take pressure off coach
PARIS (AP) — Alexandre Lacazette scored twice to pass the 100-goal mark for Lyon and take some pressure off his coach in a much-needed 2-1 win at Toulouse in the French league on Saturday.
With Lyon having lost five of its last six games, coach Bruno Genesio was under the spotlight and reportedly close to being replaced. After his second goal, Lacazette went straight over to him and high-fived him with both hands.
Lyon twice loses lead in 4-2 defeat away to Dijon
PARIS (AP) — Alexandre Lacazette's sixth goal in three games was not enough as Lyon lost at Dijon 4-2 in the French league on Saturday, allowing Guingamp to move provisionally top after winning at promoted Nancy 2-0.
Guingamp scored in the second half through midfielders Moustapha Diallo and veteran Thibault Giresse. The win moved the Brittany side ahead of Nice on goal difference after Nice drew at home to Lille 1-1.
