Kirkwood leads Harvard past George Washington 75-61
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Noah Kirkwood scored 20 points with six assists as Harvard snapped a two-game skid with a 75-61 win over George Washington on Saturday.
Kirkwood was 7 of 12 from the field including four from distance for the Crimson (5-5). Justin Bassey added 13 points and eight rebounds and Danilo Djuricic had 11 points and eight rebounds.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Corey Johnson led a balanced Harvard with 17 points off five 3-pointers and the Crimson knocked off Columbia 93-74 Saturday night in the Ivy League season finale.
While Harvard and Penn finished with 12-2 league records, Harvard earned top seeding in a tie-breaker. Harvard and Penn split their games, but Harvard was 2-0 versus Yale. Penn and Yale split their games, making Penn a two seed and Yale three.
Harvard scores late, pulls out a 76-73 win over Cornell
ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — Chris Lewis scored 17 points and Harvard came from four-points down in the final minutes to pull out a 76-73 win at Cornell in an Ivy League battle Saturday night.
The Crimson, the preseason Ivy League favorite, remains a game back of unbeaten conference leader Penn.
Stone Gettings hit two free throws with 4:43 to put the Big Red up by four, 66-62, but Lewis made two free throws and Danilo Djuricic hit a 3 with 3:09 left to put Harvard in front, 67-66.
Harvard holds off Yale 54-52, stays undefeated in Ivy

Harvard blows big lead before beating Dartmouth 62-57 in OT
HANOVER, N.H. (AP) — Seth Towns made five 3-pointers and matched his career high with 26 points, Justin Bassey finished with a double-double and Harvard blew a big second-half lead before holding off Dartmouth 62-57 in overtime on Saturday.
Bassey totaled 10 points and 10 rebounds for the first double-double of his career for the Crimson (7-10, 2-0 Ivy League), who saw a 17-point lead evaporate over the final 12½ minutes of the second half.
Towns scores 16, Harvard tops Dartmouth 61-51 in Ivy opener
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Seth Towns scored 16 points with three 3-pointers, leading four into double figures as Harvard used the long ball to hold off Dartmouth 61-51 in an Ivy League opener for both teams on Saturday.
Justin Bassey, Seth Towns and Rio Haskett hit 3-pointers on three of four early possessions as Harvard, which has defeated Dartmouth in the last 11 Ivy League openers, broke contact and led by 10 at halftime.
Harvard beats Yale behind Aiken’s career high 27 points
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Bryce Aiken scored a career-high 27 points and Harvard beat arch-rival Yale 75-67 on Saturday night to earn its second straight win.
The win pulls the Crimson into a second place tie with the Bulldogs behind undefeated Princeton in the Ivy League standings.
Aiken hit five 3-pointers and finished 7 of 17 overall. He is the first freshman to lead Harvard in scoring average since Ralph James in 1987-88.
Cook scores with 2.9 seconds left as Princeton edges Harvard
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Steven Cook scored 19 points, including the game-winner on a putback with 2.9 seconds left, and Princeton beat Harvard 57-56 on Saturday night for its eighth straight win.
Siyani Chambers made 6-of-6 free throws in the final 41 seconds on his way to finishing with 13 points, six assists and a season-high four steals while helping Harvard beat Penn, 69-59, last night in Ivy League men’s basketball at Lavietes Pavilion.

Columbia holds off Harvard for 65-62 win
NEW YORK (AP) — Nate Hickman and Jeff Coby scored 13 points apiece and Columbia held on to defeat Harvard 65-62 on Saturday night.
The Lions led by 19 early in the second half but the Crimson cut it to 64-62 with 2:19 left when Corey Johnson hit his fifth 3-pointer of the half — and seventh of the night. However, the only point from there was a Coby free throw as Columbia missed three free throws and had 2 of 3 shot attempts blocked and Harvard missed three 3s and had a turnover.

Harvard pulls away from Dartmouth, sweeps season series
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Seth Towns scored 19 points off the bench to help Harvard sweep the season series against Dartmouth with an 82-68 win on Saturday.
Corey Johnson and Zena Edosomwan each finished with 15 points for the Crimson (10-5, 2-0 Ivy League), which has won four straight and nine of its last 10.
Harvard blows by Montreal-based McGill University 70-45
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Corey Johnson scored 15 points and Harvard beat Montreal-based McGill University 70-45 on Tuesday night.
Chris Egi started the scoring with a dunk and Harvard scored eight of the first 12 points. The Crimson only had a 25-22 lead at halftime, but nearly doubled McGill in the second half, 45-23.
Harvard made four of its first six shots of the second half during a 13-3 run over the first five minutes. Zena Edosomwan's 3-point play sparked a 9-0 run and Harvard cruised.
Harvard’s young gunners down Northeastern 86-80
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Freshman Seth Towns scored a career-high 24 points and sophomore Corey Johnson added a season-high 21 as Harvard held off Northeastern 86-80 Tuesday night.
Towns made 7 of 15 field goals and Johnson shot 7-for-10 — all 3-pointers, a career-high for makes. The Crimson (3-4) shot 49 percent from the floor and were 14 of 27 from 3.
Aiken leads way as Harvard beats Fordham 64-52
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Bryce Aiken scored 16 points and Corey Johnson and Corbin Miller each scored 10 points to led Harvard to a 64-52 win over Fordham on Saturday.
With the scored tied at 35 with 13:47 left to play, Harvard took control and went on a 15-5 run in a six-minute stretch. Aiken and Seth Towns each made 3s and Harvard (2-4) as a team made five free throws during the run.
Tyler Cavanaugh had 20 points and seven rebounds, Jaren Sina scored 19 points, and George Washington beat Harvard, 77-74, in men’s basketball last night at Lavietes Pavilion.
George Washington (4-3) held a 37-33 lead at halftime and had the first three baskets of the second half for an 11-point lead. Harvard (1-4) only had four points in the first seven-plus minutes of the second half and trailed 50-37.
Benzan’s 15 points leads Holy Cross past Harvard 63-52
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Patrick Benzan scored a career-high 15 points shooting 7 for 10 from the floor and Karl Charles added 14 to lead Holy Cross past Harvard 63-52 on Tuesday night.
Holy Cross (1-3) used a 15-3 run over the final 4:12 of the first half to take a 33-25 lead that it never surrendered after the break. The Crusaders after intermission went on a 16-5 run in the first seven minutes of the second half and Charles' 3 pushed the lead to 49-30.
Harvard routs Fisher College 78-51
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Justin Bassey scored 14 points on an efficient 4 of 6 from the field and Harvard cruised to a 78-51 win over NAIA Fisher College on Thursday night.
Corey Johnson hit four 3-pointers for 12 points while Seth Towns added 11 points for the Crimson (1-1), who shot just 41.8 percent from the field but grabbed 18 offensive rebounds and held a 51-34 edge overall on the glass.
Man gets 30 years for shooting Gulfport police officer
GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — A man who shot a Gulfport police officer twice at close range has been sentenced to 30 years behind bars, but he could be out in 13.
WLOX-TV (http://bit.ly/2bw67IA ) reports 23-year-old Corey Johnson pleaded guilty Tuesday to aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer as part of a plea deal. He was originally charged with attempted murder, which carries a life sentence.
