CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State coach Wayne Tinkle said that sophomore guard Ethan Thompson has taken his game to another level this season.

Quran instructor sentenced to prison for sex abuse
TIGARD, Ore. (AP) — A Quran instructor has been sentenced to four years in prison for sexually abusing two children while at the helm of an Islamic educational institution.
Muhammad Laftah Hasan, of Corvallis, was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to attempted sexual abuse and sexual abuse for crimes dating back to 2016.

KOIN reports that Corvallis police said the victim was walking early Monday morning when the man groped her. She knocked him to the ground to get away and called 911.

Woman’s body found after truck pulled from river
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — The body of a 66-year-old Brownsville woman was found more than a week after her pickup truck went into the Willamette River near Corvallis.
The Benton County Sheriff's Office confirmed Suzanne Durheim's body was recovered Tuesday afternoon about a mile downstream from where the truck was located.
Durheim disappeared on her way to work in Corvallis Jan. 7.

Authorities continue search for missing Brownsville woman
ALBANY, Ore. (AP) — Public safety workers used a boat and a cadaver dog to search the Willamette River near Corvallis for a missing Brownsville woman, but haven't found her.

Oregon State QB Luton granted sixth year of eligibility
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State quarterback Jake Luton has been granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA.
Luton has started in just nine games for the Beavers since his first season in 2017 because of injuries. That year he missed eight games with a spine injury, then last season he missed all or parts of seven games with an ankle sprain.
Crews find missing woman’s pickup in Willamette River
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Authorities have found the pickup truck of a 66-year-old missing woman in the Willamette River just outside Corvallis.
The Albany Democrat-Herald reports authorities say the truck driven by Suzanne Durheim of Brownsville was found Tuesday.
Authorities say the vehicle may have slid off an icy roadway.

Oregon man pleads not guilty in relative’s death
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon man accused of killing his relative during a fight has pleaded not guilty.
The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports that 45-year-old Chad Cheever entered the plea Monday in Linn County Circuit Court to charges of murder by abuse and second-degree assault.

Walker scores 26 in Kent State’s win over Oregon State

Long-range shooting lifts No. 11 Oregon St women past Duke
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State point guard Destiny Slocum said that her team can't live and die by the 3-pointer.
"You can't rely on that. We were hitting and that was what was open, and it worked so." Slocum said.
Slocum scored 21 points with five 3-pointers and No. 11 Oregon State used long-range marksmanship to beat Duke 71-57 on Thursday night.
Oregon State lands 15 prospects during early signing period
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State coach Jonathan Smith says the Beavers have brought in 15 players who will help them build toward the future.
The Beavers landed 12 prep players and three junior college transfers on the first day of the early signing period Wednesday.
They'll join four players who have transferred into the program, including 6-foot-3, 252-pound sophomore linebacker Addison Gumbs from Oklahoma, who has been nursing a knee injury.
Oregon white nationalist clashes with antifa activists
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A man seen as a fixture in Oregon's white nationalist movement was hospitalized after an altercation with anti-fascist activists in Corvallis.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reports Corvallis police on Tuesday said 65-year-old Jimmy Marr of Springfield suffered from a "medical event" during the Monday incident.
