Broncos offer mixed bag for next head coach
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Whoever replaces Vance Joseph as the Denver Broncos' fourth head coach in six seasons may not find a franchise quarterback awaiting him.
Broncos careen into another offseason of uncertainty
DENVER (AP) — In early August, cornerback Chris Harris Jr. was so impressed by Denver's revamped offense directed by new quarterback Case Keenum that he declared the Broncos would score more points in 2018 than they had in five years.
Thirty a game, 480 total, something the Broncos hadn't done since 2014 when they tallied 482 on the heels of the Peyton Manning-fueled, record-breaking 606-point season.
FANTASY PLAYS: Watch for wacky in last 2 weeks of season
Week 17 typically plays out as one of the more bizarre weeks in the NFL with some intense playoff battles, some teams giving up early and others resting their stars to get a look at some younger talent.
Because of this, most season-long fantasy championships are held during Week 16 and some of the biggest daily fantasy tournaments will conclude with "main event" prize pools this week, but savvy fantasy players should still be on the lookout for traps similar to the last week of the season.
McManus’ FG as time expires lifts Broncos over Chargers
CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Denver had lost six of their last seven going into Sunday's game against Los Angeles, but Chargers coach Anthony Lynn kept warning everyone that the Broncos were dangerous because they had been in most of their games until the final minute.
Lynn's words became prophetic as Brandon McManus kicked a last-second 34-yard field goal to give the Broncos a 23-22 win and snap the Chargers' six-game winning streak.
Texans’ Thomas makes quick return trip to Denver
DENVER (AP) — The Denver Broncos may have lost a respected voice when they traded former captain Demaryius Thomas to the Houston Texans on Tuesday, but they certainly didn't lose any of their gift of gab.
FANTASY PLAYS: New key roles for those left after NFL trades
This has been one of the more active NFL trade deadlines for fantasy purposes.
Fans of Houston, Philadelphia, and Baltimore are assuredly excited by their new players, picking up Demaryius Thomas, Golden Tate and Ty Montgomery. However, it's the teams that traded those players that will likely provide the most opportunity for fantasy value.
Demaryius Thomas bracing for trade out of Denver
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Demaryius Thomas is bracing for a trade after Denver slipped to 3-5 midway through his ninth NFL season.
Thomas, the Broncos' longest-tenured player, put the odds at "50-50" that he'll be summoned into general manager John Elway's office by the trade deadline Tuesday afternoon to learn whose jersey he'll be wearing next.
Broncos’ Demaryius Thomas takes trade rumors in stride
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The longest-tenured Bronco isn't sure if he'll be in Denver much longer as rumors swirl that wide receiver Demaryius Thomas is available as the NFL's trade deadline approaches next week.
"It's football. It's a business. That's what happens," Thomas said Monday of the trade buzz. "That's what happens. It's happened before. I never think it would happen to me. But I'm just like everybody else. I'm an athlete and it happens once you get older."
Sutton’s hustle play resonates with Broncos
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — With the Denver Broncos getting steamrolled by the New York Jets last week, rookie receiver Courtland Sutton turned to teammates on the sideline and vowed to play hard until the very end.
He fulfilled that promise by running the length of the field to wrangle down safety Marcus Maye at the 1-yard line and prevent an end-of-game pick-6.

The Horned Frogs look to improve to 2-0 before their much-anticipated showdown against No. 4 Ohio State at AT&T Stadium, the home of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys that is halfway between the TCU campus and SMU, where they play their former Southwest Conference under Friday night lights. SMU lost its debut for coach Sonny Dykes, an offensive analyst at TCU last season.

Undrafted underdog Lindsay making his mark with Broncos

Big applauses also greet draft picks Bradley Chubb, Josey Jewell and DaeSean Hamilton along with another rookie who went undrafted.
Broncos’ 2018 draft class already earning high praise
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Rookie receivers Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton are the Denver Broncos' new safety valves, applying the pressure but also relieving the burden on veterans Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders .
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The Denver Broncos are singing the praises of rookie outside linebacker Bradley Chubb even if carrying a tune isn't necessarily his specialty.
The No. 5 overall pick recently paired with fellow rookie Courtland Sutton to perform a duet in front of the team.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — When the Denver Broncos reported to training camp they were met by cushy new team and position meeting rooms and an expanded training room that features two cryogenic chambers and a flotation pod along with other amenities courtesy of a $9.5 million facilities face-lift that capped a five-year, $45 million renovation.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The Denver Broncos have signed Mark Chapman, a rookie wide receiver from Central Michigan University who was the top overall selection in the 2018 Canadian Football League draft.
Chapman didn't sign with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and now is taking a longshot at playing in the NFL, an opportunity that arose after two receivers failed to report to training camp this week.
Broncos Training Camp Capsule
DENVER BRONCOS (5-11)
OPEN CAMP: July 27, Englewood, Colorado
LAST YEAR: Coach Vance Joseph's first year was debacle in every phase. Denver's anemic offense cycled through three QBs during soured season that included eight-game skid, franchise's longest in half-century, and featured eight double-digit losses. Exhausted defense surrendered too many points and special teams were anything but. GM John Elway thought about firing Joseph but decided to give him second chance and then bolstered roster.
Broncos enter last day of NFL draft with 4 picks
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — John Elway has added size, strength and seasoning to the Denver Broncos' roster after spending much of the last two drafts taking chances on players who had lighter resumes and more question marks.
All four of his picks so far — North Carolina State pass rusher Bradley Chubb, SMU wide receiver Courtland Sutton (who redshirted as a freshman), Oregon running back Royce Freeman and Boston College cornerback Isaac Yiadom — spent four years in college.
Broncos add 2 big bangers on offense in Sutton, Freeman
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — On Day 2 of the NFL draft, Denver Broncos general manager John Elway began fixing the mess on offense, selecting two big bangers in SMU wide receiver Courtland Sutton in the second round and Oregon running back Royce Freeman in the third.
"Well, we got better on the offensive side, no question," Elway said Friday night after adding Sutton (6-foot-4, 218 pounds) and Freeman (6-foot, 238 pounds).
Each day leading up to the 2018 NFL draft, I’ll break down one of my top 50 prospects.
