"He wasn't going for the corn," Somjak told The Herald of Rock Hill. "He wasn't foaming at the mouth and it looked really healthy, but he was coming toward me. I kicked him under the chin as hard as I could."

ATLANTA (AP) — The world's busiest airport in Atlanta is ramping up its efforts to prevent birds and other wildlife from colliding with the roughly 2,500 commercial flights the airport handles each day.
The work includes trapping hawks, scaring birds off with loud cannons, and sometimes using lethal force — with coyotes, for instance.

The Department of Environmental Conservation says an enforcement officer responded Saturday to a report of gunfire in a field in the rural Tompkins County town of Caroline, 50 miles (80 kilometers) southwest of Syracuse. He found a dead adult eagle near deer carcasses.

Grizzly attacks on livestock rising, but coyotes still tops
BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A federal official says reports of grizzly bear attacks on livestock are up in 2018, but coyotes remain the top killer of domesticated animals.
The Billings Gazette reports coyotes have caused more than $550,000 in damages this year, killing almost 300 calves, three cattle, four goats, 92 sheep and almost 1,500 lambs.
Police say coyote attacks joggers in Frisco, Texas
FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Police say a coyote has attacked four joggers in the past month in the Dallas metro area.
Frisco, Texas, police say in a news release that the latest attack was Wednesday morning and left a jogger hospitalized in stable condition with neck injuries.
Police say the first attack was Oct. 26 and the animal was scared away by another person. On Nov. 1 a 9-year-old child suffered a minor injury when jumped on by a coyote.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says a small dog attacked in Portland last week was likely bitten by a coyote, not a cougar as initially reported.
According to the Portland Police Bureau, a woman reported that the dog was in her yard when a cougar attacked early Thursday. The dog suffered two puncture wounds, but survived and is expected to make a full recovery.

Police say the 17-year-old male was bitten in the woods of Swampscott Saturday night.
WCVB-TV reports the teen has been hospitalized with cuts and scratches, and the coyote has yet to be found.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Natural Resources Commission on Tuesday turned away proposals that called for a bobcat hunting season and a requirement that captured raccoons, coyotes and opossums be killed, drawing cheers from people who fought the proposals.
