Alabama county still paying for spring hail storm
CULLMAN, Ala. (AP) — A north Alabama county is still paying bills from a hail storm that caused extensive damage earlier this year.
Cullman County commissioners approved a nearly $1.8 million bid to replace the damaged heating and air-conditioning system at the county jail. They also approved a bid of more than $120,000 to replace the damaged roof at a court office building.

State Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Chuck Daniel tells news outlets 33-year-old Brandon Adam Hamm died Monday morning at a Huntsville hospital from injuries he suffered during the single-vehicle crash. Troopers say his vehicle hit a tree Sunday morning.

FDA: 38 sick from tainted eggs from Alabama
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The government says 38 people in seven states have gotten sick from eggs produced by an Alabama poultry farm.
The Food and Drug Administration says the illnesses are linked to salmonella-tainted eggs from Gravel Ridge Farms, which is north of Birmingham in Cullman.
The agency issued a recall notice last month, and it provided an update Tuesday.

The grandparents were found dead in the home Aug. 2 after police were called about a child wandering in the street.
