Da Silva scores 23, Stanford overwhelms Oregon State 83-60
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — A key component of Stanford's game plan was to come out confident and attack the basket, Oscar da Silva said.
"I tried to be aggressive right from the get-go. I tried to take it at their bigs, get into their zone from the high post, and that worked really well," da Silva said.
The sophomore guard tied a career-high with 23 points and had nine rebounds and a career-high seven assists as Stanford handled Oregon State 83-60 on Thursday night.
Stanford downs Washington State behind Davis, Da Silva
PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Daejon Davis scored 15 points with six assists and Stanford beat Washington State 78-66 on Saturday.
WSU cut the lead to 69-64 on Robert Franks' two free throws with 2:28 left but then knocked a potential defensive rebound out of bounds. Bryce Wills made an easy dunk on the next possession to extend the lead and Stanford (9-9, 2-4, Pac-12 Conference) scored six unanswered points in the final 55 seconds.
Okpala, da Silva each score 21 in Stanford’s 85-71 victory
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Oscar da Silva acknowledged he hasn't always brought the right mindset into a game. He changed that Saturday.
Da Silva scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds, KZ Okpala added 21 points and nine rebounds and Stanford downed Arizona State 85-71 on Saturday to earn its first conference victory.
"He was awesome," Stanford coach Jerod Haase said of da Silva. "He has to be one of the guys who play at a high level. I'd like to see Oscar play like that more consistently."
Randolph nets 17 in Arizona’s 75-70 win over Stanford
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Arizona coach Sean Miller called it the "hidden story of the game," on the Wildcats turning the ball over twice in the second half.
"To play the final 20 minutes with only two turnovers gave us the best chance to win," Miller said. "A lot of times, the loss or the win happens because of an error."
Brandon Randolph scored 17 points, one of five players to reach double figures, and Arizona survived a scare from Stanford, beating the Cardinal 75-70 on Wednesday night.
Sharma’s double-double helps Stanford beat Long Beach St.
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Josh Sharma found himself out of the starting lineup Saturday following a discussion with Stanford coach Jerod Haase.
"He challenged me to play with more passion and energy," said Sharma, who took it to heart.
Stanford's only senior recorded his first double-double with career highs of 23 points and 18 rebounds and the Cardinal beat Long Beach State 93-86 on Saturday night.
Sharma, whose previous career bests were 15 points and nine rebounds, was 10-of-15 shooting.
Minlend scores 19 in San Francisco’s 74-65 win over Stanford
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco coach Kyle Smith expects to win every game and even he is surprised by the Dons best start in 19 years.
Charles Minlend scored 19 points, one of four players in double figures, and San Francisco beat Stanford 74-65 on Saturday.
Frankie Ferrari added 17 points for the Dons (12-1), who snapped a four-game losing streak to the Cardinal and matched their best start in 19 years.
Da Silva scores 23 points in Stanford’s win over Spartans
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Oscar Da Silva felt comfortable shooting the ball and he responded with a career night.
Da Silva scored 23 points to go with 10 rebounds, KZ Okpala added 25 points and Stanford beat San Jose State 78-73 on Tuesday night.
"Most of my shots were wide open," Da Silva said. "I think it was more a collective effort. Tonight was my night."
San Jose State coach Jean Prioleau said leaving him open was part of the plan.
Stanford pulls away from Eastern Washington, 78-62
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Stanford needed a wake-up and coach Jarod Haase delivered one at halfitme.
"He told us we made up our own imaginary game plan," said Daejon Davis of the first half. "It was a complete lack of focus. We followed his more in the second half."
Davis scored 19 points, one of four to reach double figures, and Stanford beat Eastern Washington 78-62 on Saturday after trailing at halftime.
Vick leads No. 2 Kansas past 90-84 win over Stanford in OT
LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — After struggling to score in the first half, Lagerald Vick came through in a big way to rally No. 2 Kansas to a big win over Stanford.
Vick hit the tying 3-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation and had eight of his 27 points to start overtime and lead the Jayhawks to a 90-84 victory over Stanford on Saturday night.
"He was nonexistent for a while . but he was great down the stretch," Kansas coach Bill Self said. "We needed every one of (his points)."
Okpala nets career-high 29 points in Stanford’s 96-74 win
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Sophomore KZ Okpala had a career-high 29 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks and five assists and Stanford opened the season with a 96-74 victory over Seattle on Tuesday night.
"He also had three turnovers," Stanford coach Jarod Haase joked.
"He likes being coached, he wants to be better and he has a very high ceiling," Haase said. "He should be a big-time defensive rebounder but that was an impressive performance."

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Reid Travis scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, Michael Humphrey added 11 and 14 and Stanford topped BYU 86-83 on Wednesday night in the first round of the NIT.
Davis, Travis help Stanford hold off Washington State, 86-84
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Freshman Daejon Davis did not have the best of games and Jarod Haase still wanted the ball in his hands. He made the right choice.
Davis hit a pair of free throws with 10 seconds to play, lifting Stanford to an 86-84 victory over Washington State on Saturday, its third straight win.
With the game tied, Davis held onto the ball for 20 seconds and then made his move toward the basket. He was fouled and made both foul shots, the second following a WSU timeout.
Stanford holds off late surge to beat California 77-73
BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) — It took a little bit of luck and a pair of big free throws from Dorian Pickens in the final seconds to keep Stanford from getting swept by California this season.
More critically, the Cardinal kept their hopes alive for a first-round bye in the Pac-12 tournament, a break that would be huge for coach Jerod Haase's team.
Buffs win third straight as Colorado downs Stanford 64-56
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Lucas Siewert scored a career-high 17 points, including a pair of 3-pointers down the stretch and the Colorado Buffaloes beat the Stanford Cardinal 64-56 Sunday for their third win in a row.
George King had 11 points and McKinley Wright 10 for Colorado (15-10, 7-6 Pac-12), which beat Stanford (13-13, 7-6) for a ninth straight time.
Travis scores 24 to lead Stanford past the Beavers, 80-71
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Reid Travis contributed most of his offense in the first half. He did enough in the second half to keep Stanford in control.
Travis scored 21 of his 24 points in the first half and grabbed six of his nine rebounds in the second, helping Stanford beat Oregon State 80-71 on Thursday night.
"In the first half we were flying around, getting stops," Travis said. "In the second half we were watching the score too much and waiting for the game to end."
USC beats Stanford 69-64 for 5th win in a row
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jonah Mathews turned his back as Daejon Davis tossed up the potential tying 3-pointer with 4 seconds left.
Mathews' teammate, Nick Rakocevic, watched nervously, thinking the shot looked good from his vantage point.
It wasn't, and Southern California escaped with a 69-64 victory over Stanford on Wednesday night to move into a virtual tie with Arizona atop the Pac-12, although the Trojans (7-2) trail the idle Wildcats (6-1) by percentage points.
Stanford earns road sweep with 73-64 win over Washington
SEATTLE (AP) — Daejon Davis was still in his Stanford uniform nearly 45 minutes later, signing autographs for the handful of kids still lingering around seeking out the former Seattle high school star.
There were good reasons for the kids to wait for Davis after a memorable first college trip back to his hometown.
"It was amazing. It was everything that I imagined. I wanted to come in here and get a win, (and) we did it," Davis said.

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Dorian Pickens had a career-high 28 points, including a key 3-pointer with 76 seconds left, to help Stanford beat Washington State 79-70 on Thursday night.
Pickens, who came in 10 of 35 from 3-point range this season, made 7-of-10 3-pointers. Freshman Kezie Okpala added a career-best 21 points and Daejon Davis scored 15 on 6-of-7 shooting for Stanford (9-8, 3-1 Pac-12).

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Dorian Pickens scored a career-high 26 points, including a 3-pointer in the final two minutes of the second overtime, to help Stanford surprise UCLA 107-99 in Pac-12 Conference action Thursday night.
Daejon Davis added a season-best 22 points for the Cardinal (7-8, 1-1), who have beaten the Bruins three of the past four meetings at home.
"We haven't won in a while," Davis said. "Now I'm looking forward to more moments like this."

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Daejon Davis just completed his first quarter of college, finishing several projects and essays. He still found the energy to play one of his best games of the season.
Reid Travis and Davis each scored 20 points and Stanford beat Denver 75-62 on Friday night.
"With the long stretch off, coach really held us accountable on everything," Davis said. "The level of focus on the little things helped us."
Travis leads Stanford past Montana 70-54
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Stanford freshman Daejon Davis, coming off a nightmarish 11-turnover game, scored 17 points to help spark the Cardinal to a 70-54 win over Montana on Wednesday night, snapping a four-game losing streak.
"Wins feel great regardless of my stats. If I turn the ball over 100 times and we win, I'm happy for my team," Davis said.
Jackson has 23 and Ohio State beats Stanford 79-71
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann says Sunday's game against Butler is about the players, not about him.
The Buckeyes (5-1) beat Stanford 79-71 in the Phil Knight Invitational on Friday, advancing to meet Butler in the finals. The Bulldogs beat Portland State 71-69 earlier on Friday.
Holtmann spent three seasons at Butler, taking the Bulldogs to the Sweet 16 last season, before going to Columbus.
