CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) — Kavion Pippen had 18 points to lead five Southern Illinois players in double figures as the Salukis narrowly defeated Evansville 78-73 on Saturday night.
Aaron Cook added 15 points for the Salukis. Sean Lloyd Jr. chipped in 14, Armon Fletcher scored 13 and Eric McGill had 12. Cook also had seven assists for the Salukis, while Lloyd posted eight rebounds.
Neese scores 18, Indiana State beats Evansville 85-62
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Cooper Neese made his first four 3-point attempts and scored a career-high 18 points to help Indiana State beat Evansville 85-62 on Wednesday night.
The Sycamores (12-11, 4-7 Missouri Valley Conference) opened the game on a 13-3 run, led 39-17 at halftime and extended to their largest lead at 72-41 with 8:05 to play.

EVANSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Dainius Chatkevicius scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Evansville beat Division III Albion 65-49 on Saturday.
Also finishing with 11 points for the Purple Aces (4-3) were K.J. Riley who had six rebounds, Marty Hill with five rebounds and Noah Frederking with three rebounds. John Hall led the team with 12 rebounds.
Evansville shot 38 percent from the field compared to 27 percent for Albion and had a 50-34 rebounding advantage.
Indiana State beats Evansville 58-53
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Jordan Barnes scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Indiana State beat Evansville 58-53 on Wednesday night to sweep the season series against the Purple Aces.
Qiydar Davis added 12 points for the Sycamores (12-17, 7-10 Missouri Valley Conference), who shot just 28.8 percent from the field but made eight 3-pointers, including five by Barnes.
Evansville beats Valparaiso for 21st straight time
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Ryan Taylor scored 31 points on 10-of-23 shooting for his fifth 20-point game in a row, and Evansville beat in-state foe Valparaiso 63-59 on Wednesday night for its 21st straight series win dating to 1969.
K.J. Riley added nine points with six boards and Taylor had seven rebounds for the Purple Aces (16-10, 6-7 Missouri Valley Conference), who shot 46.8 percent from the floor in winning four of their last five.
Illinois State holds on for 75-71 win over Evansville

Smith with 17 points as Evansville beats Canisius 65-58
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Dru Smith scored 17 points with six assists to lead Evansville as it beat Canisius 65-58 on Saturday.
Smith was 4 of 8 from the floor and was 8 of 9 from the free-throw line for the Purple Aces (8-2) who have won three straight. Blake Simmons added 12 points and four assists and Dainius Chatkevicius led the team with nine rebounds in addition to his seven points.
The team averaged 51 percent shooting from the floor compared to 38 percent for Canisius.
Smith has career-high 25, Evansville beats Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Dru Smith had a career-high 25 points, seven assists and four steals to lead Evansville to a 91-76 win over Bowling Green on Tuesday night.
Smith was 11 of 13 from the floor, hitting three from long range, as Evansville (7-2) drilled 12 of 15 from distance, making 61 percent (34-56) of its field-goal attempts.
The Purple Aces (7-2), who have won two straight after dropping two, started the season with five consecutive victories.
