ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Janai Raynor-Powell shot 7 of 12 from the field and finished with 16 points, including the go-ahead jumper with 50 seconds left, to help South Carolina State beat Florida A&M 57-54 Monday night.
Damani Applewhite added 13 points for South Carolina State. The Bulldogs (7-21, 5-7 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) have won three of their last four after losing five straight.
Thomas scores 19, Norfolk St. beats South Carolina St. 74-69
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Nic Thomas scored 16 of his 19 points in the second half to help Norfolk State rally from a nine-point deficit and beat South Carolina State 74-69 on Monday night for the Spartans' sixth win in a row.
Steven Whitley added 12 points, Joe Bryant scored 11 and Mastadi Pitt 10 for Norfolk State (11-10, 6-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Jordan Butler finished with 10 rebounds and three blocks.
Howard takes out SC St 71-67 in OT behind Cole’s 26 pts
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — RJ Cole scored 26 points, distributed six assists and grabbed four rebounds and Howard snapped its two-game skid beating South Carolina State 71-67 in overtime on Saturday.
Howard (8-11, 2-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) got 19 points and six rebounds from Chad Lott and the Bison finished 12 of 15 from the free throw line. South Carolina State (4-16, 2-2) saw its two-game win streak come to an end.
Gantz makes 2 late FTs, helps NCAT beat SC State 80-77 in OT
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Milik Gantz scored six of his 17 points in overtime that included two late free throws to push North Carolina State A&T past South Carolina State 80-77 on Saturday in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener.
The Aggies opened the extra period with a 12-6 surge, but Jahmari Etienne hit a 3-pointer and Janai Raynor-Powell made two free throws to pull South Carolina State to 76-75 with 33 seconds left. Gantz's two free throws made it 78-75 with 25 seconds to go.
Sibande leads way, Miami (Ohio) rolls past SC State 79-55
OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Nike Sibande had 24 points and Jalen Adaway 18 as Miami (Ohio) ran past South Carolina State 79-55 on Thursday night.
Miami (Ohio), which has won four of its last five games, regrouped after falling to Northern Kentucky on Sunday.
Sibande, who scored 18 in the first half, finished with 24 points, hitting 9 of 16 from the floor. Adaway made 8 of 11 field-goal attempts. Dalonte Brown added 11 and Darrian Ringo had six assists and five steals for the Redhawks (7-5).
Liberty downs SC State 79-55 for best start since 1991
LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz scored 18 points with six 3-pointers, Scottie James added 14 points with eight rebounds, and Liberty never trailed in beating South Carolina State 79-55 on Tuesday night.
Lovell Cabbil had 15 points, Caleb Homesley 13 and Elijah Cuffee 11 for the Flames, who are 8-2 for the first time since 1991.
Liberty outshot the Bulldogs 56 percent to 39 percent, scored 24 points off of 15 turnovers and made 28 field goals on 25 assists, led by Cabbil's five.
NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Phillip Carr scored 21 points, Tyler Streeter added 14, including a go-ahead 3-pointer late, and Morgan State nearly blew a 17-point lead but held off South Carolina State 83-80 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament opener on Tuesday night.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Elijah Mayes scored a career-high 25 points, Desmond Williams added 24 points and a career-high 15 rebounds and Florida A&M beat South Carolina State 76-74 on Monday night.
Mayes was 9-of-15 shooting while Williams made 6 of 11 from the field and hit all 12 of his free-throw attempts. Marcus Barham added 20 points for FAMU (8-23, 7-8 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).
Jamerson Jr. scores 15, Norfolk St. beats South Carolina St.
NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Derrik Jamerson Jr. scored 15 points to lead five Norfolk State players in double figures and the Spartans pulled away in the second half for a 76-62 win over South Carolina State on Monday night.
Hampton knocks off South Carolina State for 5th straight win
HAMPTON, Va. (AP) — Malique Trent-Street came off the bench to score 15 points and lead Hampton to its fifth straight victory, a 79-66 win over South Carolina State on Saturday night.
Kalin Fisher had 14 points with five assists, Lysander Bracey had 13 points and Akim Mitchell and Jermaine Morrow chipped in 10 apiece for Hampton (14-14, 9-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), which has won seven of its last eight games.
Savannah State beats South Carolina State 111-99
SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Dexter McClanahan had 23 points, 10 rebounds and five assists Saturday night and Savannah State powered past South Carolina State 111-99 for the Tigers' seventh straight win.
Savannah State (11-13, 8-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) pushed its lead into double digits for good with a 13-4 run that made it 84-70 with 9:41 left.
The Tigers maintained a half-game lead over North Carolina A&T (7-1) in the conference standings.
South Carolina State beats Morgan State 74-59
BALTIMORE (AP) — Damani Applewhite had 18 points and 12 rebounds, Patrell Rogers added 15 points and nine rebounds with five assists and South Carolina State beat Morgan State 74-59 on Monday night.
James Richardson chipped in 10 points for South Carolina State (8-15, 4-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). The Bulldogs made 47 percent of their shots and hit 17 of 25 free throws.
Morgan powers Coppin State past South Carolina State, 73-65
BALTIMORE (AP) — Lamar Morgan scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Coppin State used a big second half to beat South Carolina State 73-65 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference battle Saturday.
The Eagles knocked off Morgan State in overtime at home on Jan. 20 for just their second win of the season and now have a two-game win streak.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Mastadi Pitt scored 17 points and Steven Whitley hade 16 and Norfolk State broke the game open after halftime and beat South Carolina State 78-54 on Saturday.
Norfolk State (4-15, 2-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) led 35-31 at intermission and scored seven points in 81 seconds with layups from Whitley and Alex Long and a 3-pointer from Kyle Williams to open the second half.
South Carolina State rallies past Maryland-Eastern Shore

ORANGBURG, S.C. (AP) — Donte Wright had a career-high 31 points as South Carolina State thrashed Division III Brevard 93-65 on Thursday night.
Wright, who had been averaging 12.9 points a game, nailed 7 of 13 from distance to finish 11 of 19 from the field. Damani Applewhite was 7 of 8 from the floor for 14 points and Ozante Fields hit 6 of 8 for 12 points as the Bulldogs (2-8) shot 61 percent (36 of 59) from the floor. They also drilled 11 of 23 from long range.
Dillard, Lewis combine for 49, Presbyterian tops SC State
CLINTON, S.C. (AP) — Reggie Dillard and Francois Lewis combined for 49 points to lead Presbyterian to its fourth straight victory, an 88-77 win over South Carolina State on Tuesday night.
Dillard and Lewis both had career highs with Dillard scoring 26 points and Lewis adding 23 while grabbing seven rebounds. JC Younger had 12 points and Davon Bell added 10 with four assists and two steals.
SC State beats NAIA Morris 100-91 for first win of season
ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Damani Applewhite scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and South Carolina State earned its first win of the season with a 100-91 win against NAIA-member Morris College on Tuesday.
South Carolina State (1-6) led 51-43 at halftime and extended the lead to 20 (79-59) off Applewhite's dunk with 10:05 left. Applewhite missed just once in 13 shot attempts. Morris College cut it to 91-81 on Brian Jones' layup with 1:54 left.
Riley’s dunk powers SC State past Hampton for a 68-66 win
HAMPTON, Va. (AP) — Eric Eaves scored 18 points and Tashombe Riley's dunk with six seconds left gave South Carolina State a 68-66 win over Hampton on Wednesday night.
Riley gathered a rebound off Akim Mitchell's missed free throw with 29 seconds to play. The Bulldogs worked the ball inside to Riley who missed a layup but grabbed the rebound and stuffed it back in for the game winner. Hampton's Kalin Fisher missed from close range as time expired.
