SANFORD, N.C. (AP) — One man has died and six other people were hurt in a shooting at a birthday party in North Carolina.
News outlets reported that Sanford police were called to a dance club around 2:15 a.m. Sunday.
Twenty-seven-year-old Travis Jamarian Mclean of Sanford was pronounced dead at Central Carolina Hospital from a gunshot wound to the chest.

BEAVER DAM -- The Swingin' Beavers Square Dance Club has been staying busy with activities.
On Tuesday, April 10, the club welcomed national square dance caller Ed Foote to Trinity Church United Methodist in Beaver Dam to call at a regularly scheduled club dance. Approximately 70 area dancers joined with the Swingin' Beavers in dancing to Foote's calling.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — As the midshipmen stepped and hopped in front of her, Naval Academy math professor Sommer Gentry couldn't help but dance.

Man gunned down after leaving Kansas City dance club
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say man who had just left a Kansas City dance club was gunned down while sitting on a bench.
Police say a vehicle came to a stop early Sunday in front of 24-year-old Ta'Ron Carson early Sunday and that the occupants got out, shot Carson and fled. Carson was rushed to a hospital and pronounced dead. Police provided no information on a motive.

Wisconsin court blocks strip club from operating
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A court has blocked an exotic dance club from operating in Winnebago County.
Green Valley Investments LLC opened Stars Cabaret in 2006 in the Town of Neenah. The establishment didn't follow a county ordinance establishing that strip clubs be setback from residential areas, obtain a permit and can't serve alcohol.

BEAVER DAM -- The Swingin' Beavers Square Dance Club are prepping for the 2018 Wisconsin Square and Round Dance Convention, to be held in Marshfield Aug. 10-12.
The convention committee hosted a preconvention dance in Marshfield that 13 members of the club attended. National caller Mike Hogan kept the dancers moving.
West Texas Dance Club has scheduled a New Year’s Eve Dance featuring Lonesome Road from 8 p.m. to midnight Dec. 31 at 208 E. VFW Lane.
Black eyed peas and cornbread will be served at midnight.
Admission is $8 for members or $10 for non-members.

HANAPEPE — Rumba, bachata and intermediate cha cha is on tap for the fourth quarter of the Kauai Ballroom Dance Club’s Hanapepe Chapter, which is holding registration tonight.
Classes also begin tonight and will continue through mid-December, every Tuesday from 7- 9 p.m. at the Hanapepe Neighborhood Center.
“This quarter we’re doing beginning Rumba, and that’s a good chance for beginners because you use it to all kinds of dance music,” said Glenda Tamashiro, secretary of the chapter.
The Rosenberg Happy Cousins Dance Club has been providing dancing entertainment for all who love to dance for 40 years.

A man was injured overnight in a shooting at an exotic dance club in Cumberland County.
On Sunday around 2 a.m., deputies with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Club Xotic located at 4350 Cumberland Road. At the scene, they found one car damaged by stray bullets and several shell casings on the ground.
Officials said multiple shots were fired in the club parking lot.
