DAMBULLA, Sri Lanka (AP) — Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat against South Africa in the second cricket one-day international at Rangiri Dambulla Stadium on Wednesday.
Sri Lanka, trailing 0-1 in the five-match series, handed ODI caps to debutants fast bowler Kasun Rajitha and left-arm spinner Prabhath Jayasuriya.

Man struck, killed by train in northeast Kansas
MAPLE HILL, Kan. (AP) — Authorities say a Kansas man was struck by a train and killed while struggling with a trailer that had detached from his pickup truck at a railroad crossing.
The Kansas Highway Patrol identified the victim as 58-year-old David Miller, of Maple Hill. The patrol says Miller got out of the truck to try to rehitch the trailer. He was trying to get back into the pickup when a Union Pacific train came around the curve Friday night in Wabaunsee County.

A Georgia veteran’s journey from homeless to homeowner
ROME, Ga. (AP) — David Miller was essentially homeless. In the summer of 2014 he made his way to the Salvation Army looking for a place to stay — a military veteran with no place to go.
Today, David turns a key in a door to his own home — a home he worked hard to secure for his family.
But it wasn't easy.
David served his country spending eight years in the Army Reserves and then the U.S. Army. He was deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq in 2002 and 2003.

Sharma’s record-fast ton leads India to T20 series win
INDORE, India (AP) — Captain Rohit Sharma scored the joint-fastest Twenty20 century as India beat Sri Lanka by 88 runs to win their three-match series with a game to spare on Friday.
Sharma reached his second T20 century off 35 balls, equaling David Miller's record against Bangladesh at Potchefstroom in October.
He was eventually out for 118 off 43 balls, including 10 sixes and a dozen boundaries. Fellow opener Lokesh Rahul made 89.
India scored 260-5, the third best total in T20 history.
Teen operating buggy struck, killed by semi
STAPLES, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota State Patrol says a teenager steering a horse and buggy has died after he was hit by a semi.
Authorities say 17-year-old David Miller was struck on Highway 210 west of Staples in Todd County Thursday. WJON reports Miller was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center, where he later died.
The driver of the semi was not hurt. The State Patrol says the horse also died in the crash.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — South Africa test captain Faf du Plessis will lead a World XI team to play a three-match Twenty20 series against Pakistan in Lahore next month, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board Najam Sethi said on Thursday.
