RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) — Delano Spencer scored 20 points with six 3-pointers, Christian Mekowulu added 19 points, and Tennessee State beat Eastern Kentucky 73-60 on Saturday night to win its fourth straight.
Darreon Reddick scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Tigers (12-11, 7-5 Ohio Valley Conference), who shot 50 percent from the field and made 16 of 20 free throws.
Stark, Miller lead Murray St. past E. Kentucky, 88-73
MURRAY, Ky. (AP) — Jonathan Stark scored 22 points, including six 3-pointers, and Terrell Miller Jr. had his eighth double-double of the season to help Murray State beat Eastern Kentucky 88-73 on Saturday night.
Miller finished with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and 12 rebounds. Ja Morant and Byron Hawkins scored 16 points apiece for Murray State (16-5, 8-2 Ohio Valley Conference).
Austin Peay balances turns back Eastern Kentucky 90-84
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Terry Taylor scored 19 points, converting a tie-breaking 3-point play with 31.4 seconds left, Averyl Ugba followed with a key block and Austin Peay defeated Eastern Kentucky 90-84 on Thursday night.
Eastern Kentucky holds off Southeast Missouri late, 91-86
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — DeAndre Dishman and Dedric Boyd each scored four points in the final minute to carry Eastern Kentucky to a 91-86 win over Southeast Missouri State in an Ohio Valley Conference battle Saturday.
The Colonels now have beaten SEMO seven straight times and leads the all-time series 33-15.
Boyd has hot hand, Eastern Kentucky tops UT Martin 78-70
MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) — Dedric Boyd went off for a career-high 31 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range, and added three steals as Eastern Kentucky led for all but four minutes to defeat Tennessee Martin 78-70 Thursday night.
Boyd opened the game with a 3-pointer and didn't shoot from inside the arc until seven minutes remained in the first half.
Dama guides Eastern Illinois past Eastern Kentucky 54-53
RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) — Muusa Dama notched his second double-double of the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds and Eastern Illinois held off Eastern Kentucky 54-53 on Saturday.
Montell Goodwin added 15 points and six boards for the Panthers (6-9, 2-2 Ohio Valley Conference) in a cold-shooting affair. Eastern Illinois shot just 36.5 percent from the floor, made just 4 of 14 from 3-point range and missed six of its 18 free throws.
Broughton sparks Eastern Kentucky to a 99-71 win over Asbury
RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) — Peyton Broughton scored 21 points and Eastern Kentucky kicked it into gear in the second half of its 99-71 win over NAIA-neighbor Asbury University on Saturday.
The Eagles, from Wilmore, Kentucky, hung tough through the first half, trailing by just six points at intermission. The Colonels opened the second half with an 11-3 run and never looked back.
Eastern Kentucky routs Kentucky State 97-66
RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) — Reserves DeAndre Dishman and Dedric Boyd scored 18 points apiece and Eastern Kentucky dominated the second half to beat Division II Kentucky State 97-66 on Thursday night.
The Thorobreds jumped out to a 7-0 lead and didn't trail in the first half until A.J. Youngman buried a 3-pointer with 14 seconds left to give Eastern Kentucky a 35-34 lead. Kevin Hayes answered with a tip-in at the buzzer and Kentucky State had a one-point lead at halftime.
Burnett, Davis lead Ole Miss past Eastern Kentucky 85-75
OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Deandre Burnett scored 17 points, 12 in the second half Monday and Mississippi placed four players in double figures to defeat Eastern Kentucky 85-75.
Terence Davis scored 16 points with six rebounds for the Rebels (2-0) who led by as many as 19 points, 80-61, on a layup by Davis with 4:46 left.
Ole Miss had second half runs of 7-0 and 12-3 to keep the Colonels at a safe distance.
Freshman Boyd hits late FTs, EKU beats Rice 73-72
HOUSTON (AP) — Freshman Dedric Boyd sank three free throws with five seconds left to help Eastern Kentucky beat Rice 73-72 on Friday night in a season opener.
Trailing 72-70, Boyd got his defender in the air and drew a foul while shooting behind the 3-point line. He buried all three free throws to give the Colonels their first lead of the game.
